From Mrs. Bishop

Last week's orientation went great! Everyone had their picture taken (lots of nice smiles) and picked up their laptops! Classwork started last week, and teachers have entered grades for last week's work. Work that was not completed received zeros in the gradebook, and those zeros will remain until the work is completed. Each teacher's late work policy can be seen in their Canvas course. Teachers also entered attendance based on work completion for the week. School has definitely started! We are excited for what the 26-27 school year will bring! Hopefully, you will get in the groove, and it will feel like a picnic!

Go M@VS!

Seniors- Direct Admissions to College!

Class of 2027 Students -_BIG NEWS — Tennessee's Higher Education Commission (THEC) is expanding TN Direct Admissions to all TN high schools! Direct Admissions aims to remove barriers for students to access admissions and financial aid for college attendance. As long as a high school senior completes the 2027-28 Tennessee Promise application within the THEC portal, he/she will receive a personalized Direct Admissions letter detailing what two-year AND four-year participating schools he/she has been automatically admitted, along with potential financial aid information from that institution based on a student's GPA + ACT composite score. What a deal! Students - The earlier you submit the online TN Promise application, the sooner you will receive information about potential Tennessee options for you to enroll. Even if you wish to attend college out of state or have no desire to enroll in college, we recommend that you submit the TN Promise application, in case your post-MVS plans change. While the TN Promise application is open until November, completing the application EARLY ensures that you receive your personalized Direct Admissions mailing in early fall, instead of late December. For more information, visit: https://www.collegefortn.org/direct-admissions-2/. To apply, visit: https://clipslink.tsac.tn.gov/studentsignon/. Statewide Direct Admissions is definitely new for 2026-27; THEC is still working out the details. Please reach out to Jennifer Abernathy at jennifer.abernathy@maryville-schools.org.
