Broadmoor's Weekly Wildcat News!
December 7, 2025
Dear BES Families,
10 days- the countdown is on! This week we will be completing our end-of-semester Fastbridge assessments. These tests are essential in providing the appropriate and specific interventions your child requires.
Come see us at Price Chopper this week! On Tuesday, the staff will be ringing the Salvation Army bell from 4-6pm. On Thursday, our Student Ambassadors will be ringing from 4-6pm.
We have our 3rd grade winter concert on Thursday, December 11th! Please see information below from Mrs. Montgomery. I will be in the LHS foyer as you come in to guide students to the LHS choir room. Please keep your child's coat as they will go from the choir room, to the stage, and then to you after the concert.
LHS is hosting the BES Holiday Market again this year. Students will be able to shop during the school day for gifts for their family. We are looking for volunteers to help in the mornings of the week of December 15th. Please see the sign-up below. All volunteers need to be volunteer trained, just contact Mrs. Apple if you have not gone through the training at either RES or BES this school year.
Coming in January....
Start planning now! We are going to be having open gym times on Sundays...save the dates for:
January 11 & 25 AND February 1 & 22.
One School, One Story - join us for our family read-along! We will be hosting a schoolwide book club starting in January. Each family will receive a copy of the book, The Lion of Mars. There will be daily and weekly activities and challenges. Please let us know how your family would prefer to receive a copoy...do you want to purchase your own, borrow from our Louisburg Library, or receive a copy from the school? You can reply at the link below.
Have a wonderful week,

Cold Weather and Recess
Please make sure your children are dressed appropriately for outside recess. We try to go out as much as possible, but the wind can be really cold on the playground. Our teachers and I make the decision in regards to if students are dressed appropriately and allowed outside, depending on how it feels outside and some students may have indoor recess if they are not dressed for the cold.
USD 416 Health and Illness Guidelines
Safety Beyond School
Please talk to your students about walking and riding around town safely. We've had several reports of close calls, and we talk to the students about these topics often. However, if you could also talk to your children and practice safe measures with them that would be amazing.
1. When crossing at 68 Highway and Summerfield OR at 5th and Metcalf - PLEASE push the button but do not enter the road until you are certain the vehicles are going to stop in both directions. Even more, make sure they look at the cars coming and that they are going to stop and are paying attention. Please go out with your children and practice crossing these streets and the routes they take.
2. When riding scooters or bikes during drop-off or pick-up, we have asked all students to get off of their bike/scooter and walk it to the bike racks once they get on our main sidewalk. We have had students fall off the curb into traffic due to bikes/scooters coming up beside them and scaring them. We have also had scooters fall off the curb and into traffic.
We tell the students all the time they have to be the ones paying attention to what the vehicles are doing because unfortunately, the drivers are often distracted.
Thank you for helping us keep our kids safe!

Attendance and School Calendar
Please take note of our school calendars when planning your family's vacations.
Attendance is a focus at BES and we want your children at school! It can be very difficult for students to get caught up sometimes when they miss for extended periods of time. For example, when a student misses a week of school, that is up to 450 minutes of math instruction they are missing!
If your family does have a trip planned, we do not provide lessons or materials ahead of those trips. Teachers will work with you to schedule times when your student can be given that instruction and guided work time to ensure mastery of skills. This may have to happen before or after school, but we will also try to work during the school day as well.
GREAT school habits now help prepare students for future success!
