SCS Foundation for the Future Facilities Plan: What’s Included in the Plan?
As the community prepares for next week’s election, voters will be asked to consider a bond issue for Strongsville City Schools. During the Jan. 22, 2026, Strongsville Board of Education meeting, the Board approved placing a $147,650,000 school improvement bond issue on the May 5, 2026 ballot for voter consideration.
If the bond passes, funds would be used only for construction and facility improvements, as included in the Foundation for the Future Facilities Plan to address facility challenges faced by the district, and cannot be used for operating expenses, such as salaries. The plan outlines a future elementary configuration that includes three newly constructed K-5 elementary schools, each serving approximately 700 students, targeted renovations of Kinsner Elementary, and a renovated and expanded preschool facility at Muraski.
Building on our community’s legacy, thoughtful planning and fiscal responsibility guide Strongsville’s continued investment in updated, permanent elementary facilities as learning expectations and community needs evolve, supporting long-term stability and shared responsibility across generations. For more information about the plan, please visit scsmustangs.org/f4f.

SHS Bands Earn Superior (I) Ratings at OMEA State Contest
Congratulations to both the SHS Wind Ensemble and SHS Symphonic Band who earned Superior (I) ratings at the State Contest held last weekend at North Royalton High School. Both bands qualified at the District Contest which was held at Olmsted Falls High School in March.
This outstanding accomplishment reflects the students’ dedication, discipline, and commitment to musical excellence. Achieving a Superior rating at the state level is the highest distinction possible and represents an exceptional level of performance.
Congratulations again to all of the student musicians on this well-deserved recognition!
Mustang Spotlight - Abigayle Fitz, Preschool Intervention Specialist
Abigayle Fitz has been a part of Strongsville City Schools for three years. Abigayle is an Intervention Specialist and works in one of our preschool classrooms at Chapman Elementary. She is a proud graduate of Strongsville High School and met her husband at Center Middle School. Abigyale says, “It is very meaningful to now be teaching in the same community that played such an important role in shaping both of us.” Her undergraduate degree is from the University of Dayton and she is close to completing her graduate degree from Bowling Green State University.
“I feel very fortunate to work with preschool students at such an important stage in their development as they build early social, communication, and academic skills. For many students, preschool is their first school experience, and it is very meaningful to help create a positive foundation and excitement for learning. I especially enjoy forming connections with families and often getting to continue relationships with siblings or seeing former students as they grow through the district. Watching students gain confidence, independence, and build some of their first friendships is one of the most rewarding parts of my role.”
“Our Preschool Team has an incredibly supportive and collaborative environment. I am grateful to work alongside colleagues who are so dedicated to meeting the needs of every student. Being part of a team that values early childhood education and creates positive, engaging learning experiences makes my work especially meaningful.”
Thank you Abigayle for your work and positive influence with our youngest learners! #ModelMustang

Best Selling Author Visits SMS
Earlier this week, 6th grade students at SMS attended an assembly where they listened to nationally known author, Jordan Sonnenblick, speak about the inspiration behind his best-selling book, “Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie.” During the hour-long presentation, Mr. Sonnenblick discussed his background and his writing process. He also gave students the opportunity to engage in a question and answer session. Later in the day, 20 students chosen from an essay competition were invited to have lunch and participate in a creative writing workshop with the author. All 6th graders read the young adult book last October, and it was extremely rewarding for both students and teachers to have the opportunity to hear directly from the author.
