Important Dismissal Information

This is a time of year with many special activities and family plans that impact student dismissals. As a reminder, we strongly encourage families to wait until dismissal to get their child/children.

If anyone has to be dismissed early, please remember the dismissal MUST occur before 2:30pm, AND the dismissal MUST be in PickUp Patrol.

Additionally, a reminder about our "Parent Walker" dismissal protocol. This dismissal option should ONLY be used if you and your student are a true walker.

  • *If you are driving to Lilja to pick up your child(ren), you MAY NOT be parking along the field on Bacon St. and walking over to the door to get them.*
  • If you are driving, we ask that you select the "Car Pick up" dismissal option and use the car line on the Oak Street side.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Report on Student Progress (ROSP)

On January 30th, 2026 at 3pm each student will have a ROSP available for viewing and printing in PowerSchool.

This report provides information about your student's progress toward grade level standards that they are expected to achieve by the end of the school year. It is therefore expected that students will be "Beginning" or "Progressing" rather than "Meeting" at this time of year.

Instructions for viewing your student's report can be found here.

SUPPORTING STUDENTS DURING THE HOLIDAYS:

As we enter December and the joyful holiday season, I want to take a moment to thank you for your partnership and to share a few friendly reminders about keeping our learning community focused and connected.

This time of year brings traditions, celebrations, and well-deserved rest. It also offers rich opportunities for learning—curiosity sparked by new experiences, conversations at the dinner table, and chances to practice kindness and responsibility. At school, our teachers are working hard to keep students engaged with meaningful lessons and to build on the progress made so far this year. Your support at home makes a big difference.

Please help your child stay focused by:

  • Maintaining regular sleep routines so students arrive rested and ready to learn.
  • Encouraging consistent attendance and punctual arrival—every day in class matters.
  • Carving out short, predictable times for reading and homework even during busier weeks.
  • Reinforcing classroom expectations for practicing empathy, acting respectfully, working hard and solving problems together.

If you have questions or need support—academic, social-emotional, or logistical—please reach out to your child’s teacher or the main office. We’re here to help.

Thank you for all you do to keep our students learning, growing, and feeling supported.

REMINDER: COLD WEATHER GEAR:

As the weather finally makes a turn please help your children remember to bring cold weather gear to school. Some of our first recesses are early in the morning when it is still chilly enough to wear jackets. It's a good idea to dress in layers as some of the afternoon recesses can be much warmer than bus stop temperatures in the morning. Better to have the jacket and not need it then be too cold outside!

LOST AND FOUND DONATION:

We will be donating all items remaining in our lost and found over the winter break. Please be sure to have your student look for any missing items. Additionally, families are welcome to come look at our lost and found by checking in at the front office.

WHOLE SCHOOL PAJAMA DAYS!

Our first whole school pajama day of this year will be on Tuesday, 12/23. Lilja has whole- school pajama days on the day before Winter break, February break, and April break. If your student chooses to participate, please be sure to have appropriate outerwear and shoes for recess and P.E.!
