FHS Library Media Services
Media Specialist: Ellen Frank Bayer
WELCOME BACK!
Welcome to the 2020-21 school year! I look forward to serving the teachers, staff, students, and families of FHS this year. As you begin to plan for the new year, keep in mind that there are many ways I can help you including:
- Information Specialist: Need book baskets filled for your classroom library? Need websites and books to support a unit? Ask for the resources you need.
- Instructional Partner: Let me know what topics you are covering and I can be a guest in your virtual classroom. I can provide support by connecting you and your students to interesting online programs, database resources, audio books and ebooks.
- Instructional Technology Support: Want to better support your curriculum with technology? Need technology PD? Need help with Google Classroom and other Google tools? Let me know your individual or team needs for instructional technology.
I am here to support you and your students! Please never hesitate to ask if there is anything I can help you with. If you just need a cup of tea or a chocolate boost I can help with that too! Stop by and I'll direct you to my secret stash. Have a fantastic school year!
LIBRARY HOURS
Encourage your students to visit the media center! Early arrival students will have the option to go to the media center in the morning (up to 25) but they must report to the auditorium or cafeteria first and receive a library pass. Teachers may send 2-3 students at time from class throughout the day as needed as well. If you would like to bring your class as a whole, let me know and we will schedule a time that works best for you. Another option for students is to visit the media center during lunch/recess times. Students will need to bring their IDs with them to the media center.
STUDENT ID CARDS
Student IDs will be issued at no charge at the beginning of the school year. There is a $5 charge for replacement IDs. This includes the ID card, the plastic cover, and the lanyard. Students may come during homeroom or lunchtime to request a replacement ID.
FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT
Family Movie Night will be a year-long reading initiative. Encourage your students to participate! Each participating student will be entered into a drawing that will be held each quarter. The winner will receive a movie bucket filled with movie-themed prizes.
