As we head into the final months of the school year, we would like to take a moment to celebrate our shared commitment to showing up together—and to encourage everyone to finish strong!

A Significant Achievement

With the support of our wonderful community, we’ve made real progress in improving attendance over the past few years. Last year, 3.67% of our student population was chronically absent, but this year, we’re currently at 6.3% (chronically absent means a student is absent 10% or more of the school year). While we’ve made strides, we know that consistent attendance is key to student success, and we want to keep moving in the right direction.

Support for Attendance

Daily attendance helps students stay on track academically, feel connected with their classmates, and develop strong routines that set them up for success. Our goal is for every student to attend school every day and on time whenever they are well. As a reminder, please make vacation plans and doctor’s appointments for non-school days and hours. We understand that sometimes medical appointments during the day are necessary. If your child has to be out, consider making sure they attend at least a partial day.

Independent Study Contracts

If your child will be absent for three or more consecutive days, they may be eligible to receive an Independent Study Contract from their teacher. This allows students to complete classwork at home and receive attendance credit. Families can use Independent Study for up to 15 school days per year, and the days do not need to be consecutive. If you anticipate an extended absence for whatever reason, please contact your child’s teacher as soon as possible to arrange a contract.
