4-W Hard at Work
Mrs. Wachsman's MTSS group worked hard to put themselves in the shoes of the main character in Insignificant Events in the Life of a Cactus. Our main character was born with a disability resulting in her having no arms. Students worked to write their names without the use of their arms to see what living like that would be like. The novel uses humor and candid wit to teach themes surrounding acceptance, diverse personalities, empathy, and friendship.
Kindergarten is SNOW much fun!
On Wednesday Kinders took advantage of the fresh snow! They had the perfect conditions for sledding and snowmen!

A message from our School Nurse, Mrs. Carey:
Happy New Year and Welcome Back!
We are officially in the thick of flu season! The flu isn’t just knocking on the doors of schools nationwide, it’s practically kicking them down. According to the CDC, respiratory illnesses are expected to climb before peaking in late January or February. The CDC states that at the end of December 2025, at least 7.5 million people have already fallen ill, resulting in 81,000 hospitalizations and 3,100 deaths.
A mutated variant of influenza A is the culprit behind the surge. This variant isn’t necessarily more severe in its pathology, but it is spreading with alarming speed due to what immunity we have not protecting us against the virus.
This respiratory virus season, with a mix including flu, RSV and COVID-19, is proving serious for children and teens. The CDC have reported eight pediatric flu-related deaths so far, with five occurring in last week's data.
PLEASE!!!!
Teach your child to wash their hands frequently
Teach them to cover their coughs and sneezes
Keep them home when they are sick! Sending them to school medicated does not protect their peers and teachers.
When you call your student in sick, please let us know if they have flu-like symptoms (fever, cough, malaise, tested positive for flu, etc). This will help with monitoring illnesses and state reporting.

Family Routines That Nurture a Child's Growth Mindset
The Domino’s Pizza Fundraiser is underway! So far the students have raised over $1,100 towards our $2,000 goal. Way to go everyone!

The Slice the Price Card: Fundraising Made Easy - Day 1
Click here to register your child(ren): https://register.dominos.cards/51516
Once registered, you will be able to share your child’s very own store link with family, friends, coworkers, etc., via email, text, and social media! When a customer clicks on the link you’ve sent, it will take them directly to your child’s store to purchase a card, and we will send the card directly to the customer. Depending on the number of cards your child sells, they will get a prize at the end of the fundraiser!
Thank you so much for supporting our school!
