Principal's Update

Good Morning Memorial Families,
Happy Monday! Congratulations to the Nipmuc Warriors D10 Cheer team on their amazing accomplishments at Nationals this past weekend. They came in FOURTH in the country, and had near flawless performances. We had a large group of third and fourth graders from Memorial who are part of this team. Congratulations! We are so proud of you!
I am putting out one more call for parents to contribute to our Million Words Project. We have over one hundred submissions and educators will use this information when we spend time in January looking at our students from a whole child perspective. I encourage you to take a few minutes to share your thoughts about your child if you have not done so already. Here is the information I shared in October:
Several years ago, our district embarked on an initiative to increase our knowledge and understanding of each of our students. The thought behind this is that if we want to best serve our students, we have to know them well enough to capitalize on their strengths, nurture their passions, and instruct them in the areas that are still in development. A key piece of this is engaging the people who know our students best- YOU! So, at Memorial, we are launching an activity titled, “ A Million Words of Less”. For those of you with high school students, this may look familiar as this is something that they tried out this year as well. We invite you to share with us, in a million words or less, what makes your child unique. Feel free to share whatever comes to mind such as their strengths, dreams, or even what motivates them. You may choose to write a brief paragraph, a few bullet points, a poem, or really whatever you feel best helps us to better know your child. Please use this form to share with us. Thank you for helping us to know your child from your perspective.
Save the date for January 28th for our Family Math Night. We are looking forward to another rewarding evening with our families to celebrate learning in mathematics.
And finally, our student council has designed seven days of spirit for us leading us into the December break. Please see the schedule below to see what kinds of fun we have planned for each day starting next Monday.
Have a wonderful week!
Warmly,
Wendy
