Dryden Splash | March 8, 2026

Dear Dryden Families,
I would like to begin by extending a heartfelt thank you to our wonderful PTA for the many ways they support and encourage our faculty throughout the year. Their monthly acts of kindness truly mean so much to our staff. This past Monday, the PTA stocked the staff lounge with a wide assortment of snacks and drinks to give our teachers a little boost during their busy day. Gestures like this remind our faculty how appreciated they are and help brighten the school day in such a thoughtful way. We are incredibly grateful for the time, generosity, and care our PTA consistently shows to our staff and school community.
This week also brought one of the sweetest Dryden traditions: our 1st Grade Musical, Pajama Party! Our adorable first graders took the stage dressed in their cozy pajamas, many with their favorite stuffed animals in tow, as they sang cheerful songs about sleepovers, bedtime routines, and nighttime fun. Their enthusiasm and confidence made for a truly delightful performance that had the audience smiling from beginning to end. A special thank you goes to our music teacher Mr. Toerner for the care, patience, and hard work he puts into helping our students shine on stage. We are also grateful to our first grade teachers, the PTA, and our dedicated custodial team for all the support that makes an event like this possible. Finally, thank you to the many parents and family members who braved torrential rain and limited parking to come cheer on our little performers. Your presence meant so much to our students.
Today, many of our Dryden families enjoyed another special opportunity organized by the PTA; an outing to the Windy City Bulls basketball game at the NOW Arena. It was a fun-filled experience for our students and families to see the game up close, cheer for the team, and soak in the excitement of live basketball. There was plenty of fun to go around, from catching swag like t-shirts and hats tossed into the crowd to high-fiving and hugging the famous mascot Benny the Bull. Events like this give our families a chance to connect outside of school while creating lasting memories together.
We are so fortunate to be part of such a caring and supportive community. Thank you for all the ways you contribute to making Dryden such a special place for our students and staff. Please take a moment to enjoy the photos below from these wonderful events.
Warmly,
Jessica Martinsen

5th Grade Basketball Shootout FUNdraiser - make your donation today!
Every year the 5th grade students at Dryden participate in an annual Basketball Shootout FUNdraiser. The purpose of the fundraiser is to raise money for the 5th grade class to leave their mark and buy a gift for the school. The Class of 2026 Legacy is still to be determined based on the amount of donations raised.
Students will participate in the shootout during their PE class on Thursday, March 12th (Ms. Feck & Mr. Holston) and Friday, March 13th (Mrs. Schindler & Mrs. Sainer).
This is always a fun and exciting event for the 5th graders as it allows them to give back to the school in a lasting and memorable way. Sponsorship/donations are optional, but greatly appreciated. The donation page (CheddarUp) will be open through Sunday, March 15th should someone decide to sponsor a 5th grader on the number of baskets. All students have the opportunity to participate. Please encourage your child(ren) to collect donations only from people they know. For their safety, no door-to-door solicitation, please.
