SUPERINTENDENT'S MESSAGE
Hello LPOSD Families,
February was a month full of love (Valentine’s Day), celebrations (100th day of school), and progress (incredible growth in our midyear data reports). I continue to be grateful for the many people who contribute to the success of our students each and every day - including parents! It truly takes all of us working together to create a positive learning environment.
Inspired by Love the Bus Month 🚌, I’d also like to give a special shoutout to our wonderful bus drivers. They are often the first smiling faces students see in the morning and the last to wish them well in the afternoon. Their steady presence, commitment to safety, and genuine care for students are an important part of the school experience, and we are so fortunate to have such a dedicated transportation team serving our district.
Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership, bwm

SHS's Dalton Hawkins Recognized as Idaho Ed-Tech's Educator of the Year
“I am truly honored, and it wouldn’t be possible without the amazing IT team I work with,” Hawkins said. “This recognition validates that what we’re doing is making a difference for students and the district.”
“Mr. Hawkins has been an integral part of our district, not only in the classroom but as a resource and leader for both staff and students,” said Matt Brass, LPOSD Technology Director. “His ability to connect technology with meaningful learning experiences ensures our students are building skills that will serve them well beyond high school.”
LPOSD congratulates Mr. Hawkins on this well-deserved recognition and celebrates the innovation and dedication he brings to our schools each day.
Happy 100th Day of School!!
Our One Trusted Adult initiative ensures every LPOSD student has a go-to staff member they can count on for support, safety, and connection. We're proud to see this impact grow each year!
Early Literacy Bite-Sized Training for Parents
During this engaging session at Northside Elementary, parents gained a clearer understanding of the curriculum and instructional strategies their children experience each day. Through this opportunity, parents were empowered to mirror these same approaches at home. When school and home work together with shared language and strategies, students benefit in powerful ways.
SHS Students Inspire Young Learners
SHS Dual-Credit Advanced Spanish students are sharing their love of language with preschoolers at the Sandpoint Learning Center! Thanks to a mini grant from Underground Kindness, students read bilingual books and taught the days of the week by singing "Lunes Martes," promoting early second-language learning and its lifelong benefits.

SHS Boys Wrestling Team Back To Back Academic State Champs!
For the second year in a row, the SHS boys wrestling team has been named Academic Champions! This outstanding recognition highlights not only their dedication as athletes but also their commitment to excellence in the classroom. Truly a team of scholars and champions!
CTE Welders Make a Lasting Impact on Sandpoint
Welding instructor Jake Stark is guiding a group of skilled student fabricators as they learn how to leave a lasting impact on their hometown. With materials donated by the local VFW chapter, Stark's class fabricated three new metal benches for the Long Bridge. Students designed, fabricated, and added plasma-cut metal art silhouettes depicting nature and military themes to honor local veterans. The next step is powder coating, followed by installation later this year. Career technical education (CTE) provides students with real-world work experience and valuable certifications. Welding is one of Sandpoint High School’s most popular programs.
