The Pieper High School Newsletter - September 8, 2023
Greetings, Warrior Families!
Thank you to everyone who attended our annual Meet the Teacher on Tuesday night. It was great to see and visit with a number of you. I hope you see the passion and commitment our amazing staff has in working with your students each and every day. If you were unable to attend and have questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to your student’s teachers.
I would like to take this moment to recognize a truly special event that is coming up on campus this next week. Monday morning is an annual event commemorating the events, and the heroes, of September11th. It is humbling and awe inspiring time, and we hope to see members of every facet of the community come together and climb 2071 stairs that represent the 110 flights of stairs of the world trade centers. We invite local firefighters, law enforcement, local government, students, teachers and members of our community at this event. It is an annual time to reflect and remember the bravery and sacrifices made on September 11, 2001. We hope to see you there. For more details, please a letter below from Major Bower
We look forward to seeing everyone!
With Warrior Pride!

A Look Ahead
Warrior Nation,
I would like to invite you all to the Memorial 9/11 Stair Climb on Monday morning here in the Pieper Football stadium.
Allow me to share a few thoughts... This is a community event that allows us to reflect on who we are as a Country, heal emotional wounds, remember all those who were taken from us, and HONOR the sacrifices for those emergency services personnel who gave themselves hoping others would live.
I ask that you please share a few moments with your students, friends, coworkers today and talk about how the day made you feel- how our country was literally rocked to its very core. How panic and fear gripped the world and how AMERICA rose from the despair as we always have!
For those of you who have joined us in the past the event will be held as you remember. For those who wish to join us this year for the first time... please arrive here at the stadium no later than 0610. The ceremony will begin at 0620 with a few opening comments followed by our first step at 0630.
Yes you will get hot
Yes you will get tired
Yes you may get a cramp
Yes you will likely shed a tear
Yes you will burst with pride as you watch, participate, take pictures etc of young men and women placing others first
We will have the company of Bulverde's finest as well as our Sheriff's department. These leaders will be marching alongside us sharing in the tribute.
What should you wear... something comfortable. I recommend shorts and a light top with athletic shoes.
I also ask that you would bring a water bottle
Finally...
This is a memorial march. I will ask all present that NO words are spoken throughout the event. I believe you will understand why at the conclusion of our ceremonies.

NOTE FROM OUR ATTENDANCE OFFICE
Week 4:
Attendance Matters!
Research shows that missing 10 percent of school instruction, or about 18 days, negatively affects a student’s academic performance. That’s just two days a month and is also considered as chronic absenteeism. Even if the absences are excused, the negative impact on the student still persists.
· Communication is the key! Talk to your teachers/school staff when facing obstacles in getting to or attending school. If issues arise, we are here to help find a solution!
· If your student must miss – Please send either a parent or doctor’s note explaining why they were out. Please keep in mind only 8 days per year will be excused with a parent note.
The secret to academic success is consistent school attendance! Encourage your student to attend daily and be on time to each class!
ACA - WORKSHOP WEDNESDAYS
WELCOME COUNSELOR LESSON
The Counseling staff and Mrs. Cantrell, Pieper's Academic and Career Advisor presented to 9th and 10th grade students this week during advisory. Counselors shared ways students can access the counseling office, and reviewed graduation requirements. Counselors also presented ways to be successful in school and goal setting for the year. Next week we will continue student meetings with 11th and 12th grade and begin Fall guidance lessons with the 9th grade class!
We have loved getting to know so many students and families and look forward to continuing working with each of you this year!
