Mann Middle School News!
Hello!
It's October and we are nearing the end of the first quarter- time is flying by!
We have truly enjoyed working with your student and seeing how much they have already learned this school year. We are 25% of the way through the year and want to make sure everyone understands the importance of learning at Mann.
- We want to see your student each and every day! Not only do we enjoy hanging out with them and getting to know them, we want to see them each day in class to make sure they are learning what they need to be successful their entire life!
- Distracting behaviors have increased recently. We are working hard to celebrate students who are making positive choices and are working with families to create a plan to support students who need more guidance in being a student who contributes to learning. We don't have a minute to waste and want all of our students to find success. We need to partner with our amazing families to make this happen!
If you'd like to be part of the conversation about policies and expectations at Mann Middle School, please consider attending our School Accountability Committee meeting and becoming a part of the incredible work we do. Our first meeting is this Tuesday, October 6th from 4-5 pm in the library. I hope to see SO MANY families there so we can have more voices involved in improving our school. CLICK HERE to sign up.
I hope you enjoy all of the information, pictures and opportunities we have below in the newsletter. As always, please reach out to let me know how I can support you and your student.
Thank you for trusting us with your student each day! We are so glad you're part of the Lancer family!

Mann Middle School Expectations Reminder
At Mann Middle School, our primary responsibility is to create a safe and respectful learning environment for our students. Please review the following expectations below with your student so we can all enjoy an amazing school experience!
- Cologne and perfumes are not allowed at Mann Middle School. There are students and staff with allergies to these items. Please speak with your student to ensure they are helping keep Mann a safe space for all students.
- If a student brings food or drinks with them to school, they must consume these items in the cafeteria before school begins. Food and drink (other than a water bottle) are not allowed in classrooms (special circumstances such as a doctor-prescribed health plan are the only exceptions).
- Personal Technology is not allowed in D11 schools per board policy. This includes personal speakers, headphones (other than those included in learning plans), cell phones, smart watches, etc. If you need to get in touch with your student during the school day, please call the front office at 719-328-2300 and we will relay the message to them.
Hard work at Mann Middle School
Each month, our students gather together for an Advisory Class Assembly to go over important information, have some fun, and build our school community. We also take this time to celebrate our students who demonstrate Mann PRIDE behaviors and work hard!
Our 8th-grade students participated in Chalktober, a D11 Peak Experience. They worked hard on their chalk sketches about freedom at the Pioneer Museum, then toured some amazing parts of the museum. We are proud of our 8th-grader's hard work and their ideas becoming reality!
Students compete to answer trivia questions about social studies!
Ms. Stewart had a blast competing with students- and showing her school pride with her pajamas for Staff Pajama Day!
Mr. Hall competed with 6th-grade students to find out what the best lunch is at Mann Middle School!
8th-grade students toured the Pioneer Museum at Chalktober!
One of our students helped the D11 media team capture pictures of the amazing art our students created at Chalktober.
Students enjoyed showing their hard work from the past two weeks - it all came together with their chalk sketches!
