Progress Reports will be ready February 8th!

You can view your child's progress on Parent Portal. If you are having any trouble viewing, please contact the front office and they will direct you to our technology department.

Project Night Assignment Due Dates

This will be a Graded Assignment! Your child has already been given the information in January. Project will be worked on at school AND at home.

February 8th, 2019- Topic is Chosen. Decide to work either individually or in a group.

February 12th, 2019- Students must have Guiding Question and Claim (Template given by Teacher)

March 6th, 2019- Summary of Research (Template given by Teacher)

March 8th, 2019- Student Reflection (Template given by Teacher)

March 22nd, 2019- Inquiry Board Display (Needs to be a Tri-fold Board)

March 26th, 2019 (Night of Project Night) - Model/Experiement of Project is Due

End of the Year 5th grade Field Trip- Birmingham, Alabama

Below you will find the payment schedule for 5th grade. Included in the schedule are the remaining due dates, activities associated, and the amounts due. If you have any concerns or questions, do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher.

On 2/15/2019, students will need to bring in second payment of $40 for the End of the Year Field Trip.

On 3/15/2019, students will need to bring in the third payment (last payment) of $40 for the End of the Year Field Trip.

On 4/19/2019, students will need to bring in their $20 for thier Fifth Grade Graduation Fee

(T-shirt, Graduation cake, and Graduation gift)

5th grade End of the Year Field Trip- May 17th, 2019

Alabama Trip Itinerary

· Depart HTE 6:30 am

· Arrive at McWayne Science Museum 8:45 am

· Lunch at McWayne Science Museum 12:30 pm

(Lunch will be chicken fingers, fries/chips, and Powerade provided by McWayne Science Museum.)

· Depart McWayne Science Museum 1:45 pm

· Arrive at Civil Rights Museum 2:00pm

· Depart Birmingham at 4:15pm

· Arrive at HTE at 6:30 pm.

Parents need to be at Hightower Trail Elementary from 6:00-6:40 pm for pick-up.

Valentines Day is February 14th

Students can bring cupcakes and treats for their friends during lunch time, which is from 11:15 am-11:50 am.

- Classes are competing with one another to bring in the most pennies and dollars !

Annual Cookie Contest

- Get out thoses recipes cards and cookbooks because the 4-H Cookie Contest has begun. The cookies you make will be donated to local organizations. Look for the pink flyer. Contest ends on Valentines Day!

Farewell Dr. Mosley! Thank you for making HTE a great place to be!

A bittersweet moment has come as our Principal, Dr. Mosley, will be leaving us at the end of the month. This is special, since she has the opportunity to work her dream job as the Director of Elementary Education in another district. Please share your farewells and gratitude with her as her days at HTE come to an end.
