Fox Ridge First Week Wrap-Up: Starting Strong!
We had a fantastic start to the school year at Fox Ridge! Classrooms have warmly welcomed all students, and we are eager to begin our first full week together next week. Teachers and students have been busy building strong classroom communities, all while embracing our school theme for the year: Rooted and Rising—rooted in our core values and rising to our potential.
We kicked off Wednesday morning with a joyful, celebratory opening! Families waved goodbye as teachers greeted students with bubbles and music, setting the tone for a positive year ahead.
Throughout this first week, we reviewed our schoolwide expectations across all settings. We want all of our Foxes to be Respectful, Responsible, and Safe—values that guide everything we do.
Looking ahead, students in grades 1–5 will take the fall i-Ready diagnostic assessment next week. Please see the attached district letter for more details.

We are so excited for our second year at Fox Ridge and grateful to have each of you as part of our community. Welcome!
Save the Date: Curriculum Night will be held on Wednesday, September 10. We can’t wait to see you there!
Curriculum Night-Wednesday, September 10
This year we will again have a more traditional Curriculum Night. Teachers will do presentations in their classrooms and this will allow our parents to stay informed regarding our curriculum as well to learn about what a typical elementary day looks like. It will also give parents and teachers an opportunity to connect and discuss any questions regarding our curriculum and expectations. (Note: This will not be an evening where parents will be able to talk to the teacher regarding their individual child. Conferences will be held on October 9th and 10th.) Each grade level will present the same presentation twice. This will allow parents to choose a session to attend as well as give them the ability to attend multiple grade levels if they have more than one child at Fox Ridge.
This is an event for parents only. We recognize that childcare may be a challenge for some families. Our Fox Ridge staff will be providing supervision and activities for any students attending Fox Ridge (K-5) for that evening. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide care for children that do not attend Fox Ridge as students.
We hope to see you all there!!

New District 303 attendance procedures-removal of prearranged absences
District 303 attendance procedures were updated and approved at the June 9, 2025, Board Meeting. All district procedures are available in the CUSD 303 Student Handbook found in the Parent/Community tab in the Information column of the districtd303.org website.
Updates to the attendance procedures were made to bring consistency across all schools within the district and to clarify student attendance expectations. One example of an update is the removal of the pre-arranged absence procedure. This aligns with the definitions of excused and unexcused absences found in Section 2.2.
Families are encouraged to review the CUSD 303 Student Handbook to familiarize themselves with the districtwide procedures.
Here is a link that takes you to the section of the handbook that is dedicated to attendance. In addition, the district created magnets for all to support keeping track of absences. These were sent home with students yesterday or today.

We need your help on arrival and dismissal
Thank you for your support and patience as we work out the kinks with our arrival and dismissal procedures. We appreciate your help with the following:
-
Drop-off line use: If you are driving and feel comfortable, please use the drop-off line instead of parking and walking your child in.
-
Staying in your car: If you are in our drop-off or pick-up loop, please remain in your car. If you are waiting due to arriving at 3:20 or earlier for pickup, kindly turn off your engine—idling for five minutes or more creates unnecessary pollution.
-
Crosswalk safety: If you choose to park and walk your child, please use the crosswalk. This helps with traffic flow and keeps everyone safe.
-
Back meeting location: If your child is expected to meet you in the back because you’ve parked on the side street, please make sure they know this plan. Some confusion has occurred when students say they are car riders, as we then guide them to the front of the building.
Thank you for helping us make arrival and dismissal safe and smooth for everyone!
