Glenwood
This Week's Scouting Report
Thursday, May 28, 2026
Good evening, Glenwood families,
Yet another exciting week at Glenwood!
Yesterday, we welcomed the PHS Class of 2039 (yes, 2039!) during our annual Kindergarten Round-Up. It was energizing to meet our incoming students and their families during this special event. A huge shout-out to our Kindergarten Team, Mrs. Harkness, Mrs. Bradley, and Mrs. Kotzen for their efforts in organizing such a welcoming experience. Creating strong classroom communities is one of the most important things we do to set students up for success, and this event was the first step in preparing our future students for their Glenwood journey.
Today was one of the most memorable experiences I have witnessed as a principal. Our annual Field Day brought the entire school community together for fun, teamwork, and friendly competition. Thank you to our many volunteers for helping run the 24 events across campus. I know everyone is tired and deserving of a quiet evening and an early night’s sleep!
Events like these are what make Glenwood such a special place. We still have a few big events ahead, and I couldn’t be more excited to continue creating lasting memories for our students and their families.
It’s hard to believe the school year is quickly coming to a close. I feel so fortunate to be part of such a wonderful school community. Thank you for your continued engagement, support, and partnership in all things Glenwood!
With several events still ahead, please be mindful of our neighbors when visiting campus. We know parking can become limited during our large events, so we ask that families please avoid blocking driveways or bus lanes and be sure to park safely on and around school property. Thank you for your cooperation and support!
Best,
Josh Rehak, Principal
And the winner is....
... TEAM GLENWOOD!!!!! Today's beautiful weather was proof we made the right call postpoing out original Field Day date - thank you again for everyone for your flexibility.
This was such a perfect 'end of year' event that truly tied in this year's theme: students were good sports, encouraged their classmates by cheering them on, took turns, and pushed themselves to give it their all... while understanding what TEAMWORK is all about! We appreciate all the volunteers and a huge shout out to Mr. Leahan and Mrs. Lieberman for organizing this event - a favorite for many of our students!
Tomorrow: Wear Glenwood GREEN
Glenwood Happenings
Congratulations, Andrea!
We are so proud to celebrate Andrea in 4th grade for becoming a finalist in the Future Engineers Challenge: “Future Creatures Challenge”! Your creativity, imagination, and hard work truly set you apart. Being named a finalist is an amazing accomplishment, and it shows how much dedication you put into your design. Keep dreaming big, exploring new ideas, and reaching for the stars—you are an inspiration to us all! Way to go, Andrea!
Join the Cereal & Kindness Chain Reaction
The Glenwood Elementary Cereal & Kindness Chain Reaction is rolling right along! We’ve stacked up an amazing 592 FULL boxes of cereal so far! But wait… our dominoes aren’t done falling yet! We still need 908 more boxes to reach our BIG goal!
Help us keep the kindness tumbling by sending in cereal boxes next week. Every box helps feed local families and keeps our chain reaction going strong! Thank you for helping us crunch hunger one box at a time!
Glenwood Book Swap
Are you doing a Spring Cleaning? Do you have lots of gently read children’s books that you no longer use? Consider donating them to Glenwood’s Book Swap! Students will be participating in a book swap later this year and we need books! Please send in any gently used elementary school appropriate books to Glenwood’s library! Volunteers will also be needed to help run the swap. The Book Swap will be held June 1st through 3rd, more info to come soon!

Parent / Guardian Resources & Reminders
To ensure your child/children have transportation for the 26-27 school year, it is mandatory to fill out the following questionnaire and submit it by June 12, 2026. If your child is not utilizing bus services for the 26-27 school year, please let us know that as well.
5th Grade News
Our 5th Grade Recognition Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, June 10 at 10:30 a.m. at Penncrest High School. We are excited to celebrate our 5th graders as they prepare for this important transition.
Due to the large size of this year’s class, some procedures will look different from past years:
- Students should report to Glenwood at the start of the regular school day.
- Students should dress appropriately for this special occasion.
- Buses will transport Glenwood students from GES to Penncrest High School.
- Students should not report directly to Penncrest High School, as there are logistics and preparations that need to take place prior to the ceremony.
- Parents and guests should report directly to Penncrest High School.
- Doors will open at 10:00 a.m.
- Because of venue capacity, each family may bring up to 6 guests.
- Please know that it is a school day for PHS, so parking is limited. Please carpool if possible.
- Please use the larger parking lot closest to the Van Leer Avenue entrance.
- Enter through the Auditorium doors by the Lions statue
Following the ceremony, all students will be required to board the buses back to Glenwood. Students will not be permitted to be dismissed directly from Penncrest High School. Parents may meet students at Glenwood and officially sign them out from their classroom teacher.
To help streamline dismissal procedures, please complete the Early Dismissal Form - 5th Grade Recognition by Monday, June 8th to proactively collect information for students who will be leaving early that day.
Families will also have the opportunity to visit the 5th grade hallway, which will be decorated by our 5th Grade Committee in honor of our students and their accomplishments.
We look forward to celebrating this milestone together.
5th Grade Clap Out Opportunity
As a final goodbye to their Glenwood chapter, families are cordially invited to attend the 5th Grade Clap Out on Friday, June 12 at 10:00 a.m. Visitors will sign in outside and gather along the main hallway as the classes parade through the building one last time.
