Attention all Students and Families!
We have two important dental opportunities for our students coming up very soon! Please read carefully!
The Free Tooth Taxi will be on campus December 7-11, 2026.
The Tooth Taxi partners with schools and parents all over Oregon to screen students, offer cleanings, fix cavities, provide extractions, and teach children how to care for their teeth and gums to fight tooth decay—all for free. Students in pain, those without dental insurance, children who’ve never seen a dentist, and students with Oregon Health Plan who are not currently seeing a dentist are the focus of the Tooth Taxi; however, any child whose teacher recommends that they see us, with parental approval, is welcome. Parental consent is required and we need at least 40 participants from the secondary building to secure the event. Please reach out to Nurse Dani at 503-738-5586, dnelson@seasidek12.org if you would like to take advantage of this opportunity.
Free Dental screenings and sealants are available November 3-6, 2026
The service includes a screening, fluoride treatment, and dental sealants provided by Arrow Dental. Parents must sign and complete the consent form in its entirety for their student to receive services. If you want your student to participate, please turn in the consent form as soon as possible. Consent forms have been sent home with all middle school students a few weeks ago. All students in grades 6-12 are welcome. Please reach out to Nurse Dani at 503-738-5586, dnelson@seasidek12.org if you need help obtaining a consent form.
Celebrating 100% Attendance with SeaStar Gelato!
We are thrilled to announce our new partnership with SeaStar Gelato to recognize and celebrate our students' dedication to being in school every day!
Starting in October, every student who achieves 100% attendance for the month will automatically be entered into a monthly raffle. Each month, 125 lucky winners will receive a coupon for a free single scoop of delicious gelato from SeaStar Gelato.
Thank you to SeaStar Gelato for supporting our school community, and good luck to all of our students—let’s aim for 100%!
Celebrating Student Achievement and Growth!
Today, we celebrated STAR Assessment results with our 6th–11th grade students! During Seminar, students were recognized for their academic achievement and growth in Reading and Math. We are proud of our students' hard work and the progress they are making!
Students were recognized in two categories:
Level 4 Achievement: Students earned scores in the highest achievement category on the STAR State Benchmark scale, indicating performance associated with the highest level of proficiency expectations for the Oregon State Assessment.
Student Growth Percentile (SGP) of 50 or Higher: Students demonstrated typical or above-typical growth compared with academic peers nationwide who had similar prior achievement levels. An SGP of 50 represents median growth, meaning the student's growth was at the midpoint compared with similar students.
These recognitions reflect our commitment to celebrating both what students know and how much they grow. By recognizing achievement and growth together, we encourage students to take pride in their accomplishments while continuing to challenge themselves and reach new goals.
We look forward to celebrating continued progress as students complete their winter and spring STAR assessments!
Measles Parent Info
Measles has been found in Oregon starting in January 2026 and it is not expected to go away. Measles is one of the most infectious and easily spread diseases we know of and it can cause serious health complications. In order to prepare, the Seaside School District is planning ahead for the possibility of measles in our district.
If a known measles exposure occurs, students and staff who are not up to date on their measles immunizations will be excluded from school for 21 days from the date of their last exposure.
What you can do now:
The best way to be prepared and protected is making sure your students are up to date on their measles vaccines. Anyone who is not protected is at risk for contracting the disease. Students in kindergarten and above need two doses of the measles vaccine.
Where to find a vaccine:
Call your primary care provider to schedule a measles vaccine appointment
Call Clatsop County Public Health at 503-325-8500
Call a local pharmacy
Know the Symptoms of Measles:
Symptoms begin 7-14 days after contact with the virus
Initial symptoms are
High fever (may spike over 104)
Cough
Runny nose
Red, watery eyes
2-3 days after symptoms begin tiny white spots may appear inside the mouth
3-5 days after symptoms begin the measles rash appears. It usually begins as flat red spots that appear on the face at the hairline, then spread down to the neck, trunk, arms, legs and feet.
Small raised bumps may appear on top of the flat red spots
The spots may join together as they spread across the body.
When the rash appears, the fever may spike to over 104.
What to Do if You Think Your Student Has Measles
Keep your student home from school
Contact your student’s health care provider immediately and let them know that you think your student may have measles (call ahead, do not just go in)
If your student is having emergency symptoms (trouble breathing, painful breathing, confusion, dehydration, etc.) Call 911 and/or call ahead to the ER and let them know you are bringing your student who you think may have measles
Let the school nurse know if your student receives a measles diagnosis
Please reach out to Nurse Dani (503-738-5586) or Nurse Kyra (503-738-5161) with any questions.

Student Health Survey
Our school is participating in the Student Health Survey (SHS), a survey sponsored by the Oregon Health Authority Public Health Division and the Oregon Department of Education. The survey asks about health risk behaviors of students in grades 6, 8 and 11. The survey will be conducted online in the classroom and includes questions about student health and safety, mental and behavioral health, school climate and culture, and risk and protective factors. This survey is completely anonymous and voluntary. This year's student survey will be taking place the 3rd week of November.
If you do not wish your child to take this survey, return this form to the principal’s office before the survey date of 11/18/2026
Staff Wishlists
Due to budget constraints this year some of our staff have compiled classroom Amazon wishlists. All donations are for classrooms and students, not personal gifts to staff. If you feel so inclined to support our staff feel free to browse these lists. They will be updated as the school year continues. Thank you for supporting our schools.

ParentVUE
ParentVUE is different than ParentSquare. ParentVUE is used to register your student and view assignments and grades. ParentVUE has released a brand new app. If you would like to use the app you will need to download the new version. If you can't remember your ParentVUE login information please contact our main office at 503-738-5586.
Through ParentVUE you can:
- Register your student each school year
- View your student's classes
- Check your student's grades and status of any assignments
- Communicate with your student's teachers
- And much much more!
For even more convenience you can download the ParentVUE app (available for free for iOS and Android devices).
StudentVUE
StudentVUE is a dedicated portal designed specifically for students to stay on top of their own academic progress. Through StudentVUE, students can take ownership of their learning by viewing daily class schedules, tracking assignment statuses, checking current grades in real time, and easily contacting their teachers.
Just like ParentVUE, StudentVUE has a brand-new app! If your student prefers using a phone or tablet, they will need to download the updated version from the iOS App Store or Google Play Store. If your student needs help logging in or resetting their password, please have them stop by or call the main office at 503-738-5586.
Through StudentVUE, students can:
View daily class schedules and room assignments
Track upcoming assignment due dates and submission statuses
Check current grades and missing assignments in real time
Communicate directly with their teachers
Access important academic updates all year long
For the best experience on the go, download the free StudentVUE app on iOS or Android today!
My Ride K12
Seaside School Transportation is introducing the My Ride K12 app to provide families with real-time bus schedules, locations, and routing. Many parents already find it helpful, but please note that due to a summer update, returning users must re-add their students using the school ID found in ParentVUE under Student Info. We prioritize your privacy and reassure families that you are not interacting with an AI system; your information is strictly used to connect you to your student's route. If you prefer not to use the mobile app, you can access the service via a web browser or contact the Transportation Department directly for alternative registration options. To get started or learn more, visit Seaside School Transportation.Sign up below today!
Seaside Secondary School Is Going Paperless!
Seaside Secondary School has gone paperless! Report cards and progress reports will no longer be sent home.
To view grades please log in to ParentVUE and select either Grade Book or Report Card.
If you need help logging in or would like to opt out of electronic report cards, please contact the Main Office at 503-738-5586.
Student Parking
Students that drive themselves to school and park in the school parking lot must have a parking permit and sticker. Stickers are free and transfer from year-to-year. Please complete the Google Form below to request a sticker.
Parents will be notified when their students are provided with a parking sticker.
SHS is a closed campus and students may not leave campus unless they have prior authorized permission from their parent/guardian
.
Student parking is only permitted on the east/mountain side of the building. Students are not allowed to park in the staff parking lot on the west/ocean side of the building.
Reminder when parking on our steep hill to curb your tires to help avoid any accidental rolling.
Bus Information
Please click the LINK here for bus stop information.
If you cannot find your bus stop or believe it is incorrect, please contact our transportation supervisor at 503-738-7150 or cpeters@seasidek12.org.
Please be at your bus stop 5 minutes earlier than the scheduled pick-up time. Bus times vary due to traffic levels. Bus route information is posted on our school website. See link above.
During the 2026-2027 school year we will again be using our bus badge program. This program increases the safety of our students on our buses by allowing us to know who is on the bus at all times and at which stop they exited.
Here's how it works. Student ID Bus Badge system utilizes an ID which communicates with the Bus Pass scanner located on the bus. Students will scan the badge as students enter and exit the bus instead of having to take paper attendance.
If you prefer to opt your bus rider out of this program please cotact the Transportation Department directly at cpeters@seasidek12.org or 503-738-7150. It is important to note that students who opt-out of the electronic monitoring portion of the program will still need to show their Student ID Bus Pass to ride a district school bus. Their badge will just not have an active barcode to scan.
Lost/Damaged Student ID?
Have you lost or damaged your Student ID? No problem! Simply fill out the below form to request a replacement.
Bus Note FAQ's
Q: My student needs to ride the bus home with another student today - what should I do?
A: We must have requests preferably no later than one hour prior to the end of the school day. Permission may be provided verbally over the phone, emailed, or with a note given to the Main Office indicating the date, the name of the student your student will be riding with, and your contact information
You may email the request to sgiess@seasidek12.org or aplarson@seasidek12.org If you need further assistance please call the main office at (503)738-5586.
Student Attendance/Pickup
If you will need to pick up your student before the school day ends, please send them in the morning with a note to the Main Office. That way we can have your student ready for pickup at the time you need them. You may also call us ahead of time and we will get your student ready for you.
To avoid receiving the automated attendance notices if your student is absent, please contact the Main Office as soon as possible at 503-738-5586.
The Main Office hours are Monday – Friday 7:30 am – 4:30 pm.
Student Medications
If your student has medical issues or needs to take medications during the school day, we need to hear from you ASAP! The medications will need to be delivered to the main office by the parent/guardian (NOT the student). We will ask the parent to complete forms for each medication your student takes. If you would like to prefill the forms out please see below. Even if your student has medication they need to keep with them during the school day i.e.: inhaler or epi pen or if your student takes an over the counter medication ie: cough drops or Advil, we need to have a parent signed form on file.
For our 7th grade students: Please be aware that all 7th graders need a Tdap booster as part of their required immunizations to attend school. If your student has not yet had that booster, please contact your primary care provider for this immunization. Immunization exclusion day comes in mid February where all students must be up to date, or have an exemption in place, to avoid school exclusion.
Please contact the Main Office at (503) 738-5586 or the school nurse, Dani Nelson at dnelson@seasidek12.org
