Dear Carl Sandburg Middle School Families,

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! We are thrilled to welcome back our 7th and 8th graders and give a special welcome to our incoming 6th-grade students! We are so excited to see their smiling faces on Tuesday, September 8th!

At Carl Sandburg Middle School, our priority is providing a safe, secure, and supportive environment so every student can thrive academically and socially. This year, we are focusing on living the Tiger CODE:

• Effort

Students working together, supporting one another, and sharing the common goal of learning creates the optimal environment for growth and student success.

Carl Sandburg students will get their schedules and can check their transportation route/pick-up times. There will be CSMS staff stationed in the MPR to pass out schedules and answer questions.

There will also be an opportunity to register your students for school, or drop off any documents needed to complete registration. Registration is located in the South Gym by the new stage. Registration can be done for Washington, Mechanics Grove, or Carl Sandburg students.

Tiger Check-in is from 12 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday and from 8 to 11 a.m. on Friday.

This is a signup sheet for the school year 2026-27 Fall sports seasons: Cross Country, CoEd Soccer and Girls Volleyball. These sports are open to all incoming 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. Please remember you must have a current physical on file with our nurse's office before you can attend tryouts. If you are unable to get in to see your doctor before tryouts, there are places in Mundelein that provide opportunities for walk-in physicals. Please reach out the front office at 847-949-2707 if you have any questions. Please send all physicals to the nurse's office. Please use your District 75 email address if you are a student.

Our Athletic Director, Mike Fansler, sent an email to parents that have a student registered for any tryout or sport. If you did not receive an email, please contact Mr. Fansler, mfansler@d75.org, to request the information.

Cross Country start their practices Thursday 9/3 from 3:30-5pm and Friday 9/4 from 3:30-5pm meet by the benches outside the north gym (enter door 14 off small parking lot Hawley St)

6th/7th Grade Girls Volleyball tryouts will be Thursday 9/3 and Friday 9/4 3:30-4:45 North Gym (enter door 14 off small parking lot Hawley St)

8th Grade Girls Volleyball tryouts will be Thursday 9/3 and Friday 9/4 4:45-5:55 North Gym (enter door 14 off small parking lot Hawley St)

6th/7th and 8th CoED Soccer tryouts will be after school Tuesday 9/8 and Wednesday 9/9 until 5pm. Meet by the benches outside the north gym.

The Board of Education of Mundelein Elementary School District 75 is committed to ensuring all students have access to educational and co-curricular opportunities. To support this goal, the district will waive all school fees and fines required for participation if a student’s parent or guardian qualifies for assistance. To be considered for a waiver of registration and beginning-of-year fees, returning families must submit their application by October 15, 2026.

Applications submitted after this date will apply only to future fees. New families have 30 days from their student’s first day of school to apply; if approved within that window, registration fees may be waived. After the 30-day period, assistance may still be requested, but it will only apply to future fees.

Applications for fee waivers are available online at the Financial Assistance page. To apply, families must complete the required application. Once completed, forms may be dropped off at the Mundelein Elementary School District 75 Office, located at 470 N. Lake Street, Mundelein, IL 60060.
