Julian Curtiss Elementary School
September 5th, 2025
Congratulations on completing your 1st week of school π!
Dear Parents and Families ,
What a great start to our 2025-2026 school year! On Friday, August 29th, we welcomed back our scholars and families. It was truly a celebration as each class was introduced and made their way to the red carpet! Everyone cheered along making our scholars feel even more special on their 1st day of school.
Throughout the day we were able to take pictures as we visited classrooms, walked the hallways, peeked into the gym and even made our way to the new playground during recess. The energy was incredible - seeing our scholars engaged in their new learning environment, teachers getting to know their new class, and everyone settling beautifully into their new routines. What a wonderful way to kick off what's sure to be an amazing year ahead!

What a fantastic turnout we had for today's Walk, Bike & Roll to School Day! On September 5th, 2025, our amazing families and scholars selected their preferred method of transportation - whether walking, riding a bike, or scooting along on their scooters - and met up in groups to travel together safely to school. It was wonderful to see everyone coming together with the shared purpose of boosting physical activity for our students, improving their health and well-being while reducing traffic congestion and pollution around our school. These special events truly build community, increase awareness of safety needs, and encourage the use of active transportation for a more sustainable environment. As all the scholars who participated arrived at Julian Curtiss, they were received with cheers and celebratory music - what a perfect way to start the day! The smiles on their faces said it all as they felt the excitement and pride of choosing an active way to get to school.
Our Main Entrance - Coming Soon!
While we are waiting for the completion of our main entrance, please enter the building through the Kindergarten patio.
We are hoping to hear very soon that our main entrance is ready, but until then, please check in with the security guard at the patio if you need to enter the building for any reason.
Please Remember: Safety First
πΆ Dog Policy at JC
For the safety and comfort of all our students, we kindly ask that families refrain from bringing dogs onto school grounds (including our blacktop/playground area). We love our furry friends, but keeping our grounds pet-free helps ensure a safe environment for everyone. Thank you so much for your understanding and cooperation!
No Motorized Vehicles on Playground
Please note that motorized vehicles are strictly prohibited on the playground. This is in place for the safety of our scholars, as many children use the playground after school hours, varying in age. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us maintain a safe environment for all our students.
Breakfast at Julian Curtiss
π₯£ π₯― π₯ π³
Breakfast is offered between the hours of 7:45am and 8:15am for children in K-5. Children being dropped off for breakfast should be dropped off at 7:45am in order to leave enough time to eat their breakfast prior to going to their classroom. Remember that instruction begins at 8:30am. Families are required to sign up in advance for this program. Please complete this 25-26 JC Breakfast Opt-in Form to sign your child up for breakfast.
The breakfast cost is $3.00 unless families qualify for free/reduced lunch.
Greenwich Elementary Schools (Grades K-5): There should be no cell phone use during the day.
You are encouraged to not send phones to school with your children. There are ample phones available at the school site for parents to get in touch with the school, or the student to call home.
If you feel there is a safety need given unique circumstances, such as walking a long distance to or from school each day, then the phones/wearables must be off and away in lockers or backpacks for the duration of the day.
Grades K-8: Smart wearables should not be brought to school
Smart wearables, such as Apple Watch, Fitbit Versa, Amazfit, Garmin Venu, Galaxy Watch, Pixel Watch, Withings ScanWatch Horizon or other wearables, should not be brought to school in K-8.
If there is a medical reason why a student needs a wearable, then you should meet with the administration, who will then acknowledge and approve in coordination with any other resource personnel, such as the nurse, that such wearable is allowed for that student. Examples of this include a student who wears a monitoring device for their heart, blood sugar regulation, insulin dependency, or other critical wearable. If the device requires the use of a cell phone, an implementation plan should be put in place along with the approval of the wearable.
