Principal's Message Principal's Message

Dear Ride Families,

It has been another fantastic week of learning here at Ride Elementary!

This week, we had the honor of announcing our Teacher of the Year, Rising Star Teacher, and Humanitarian Award recipients. These outstanding educators were nominated and selected by their peers for consistently going above and beyond each day. They truly represent the heart of Ride Elementary through their commitment, character, and connection to our students and families.

We are incredibly grateful for their hard work, dedication, passion for teaching, and unwavering commitment to your children.

Congratulations to our 2025-2026 award recipients:

  • Teacher of the Year: Erika Fortson

  • Rising Star Teacher: McKenzie Blanchard

  • Humanitarian Award: Maria Flores

We are so fortunate to have such an exceptional and caring team at Ride Elementary.

We also had a wonderful Valentine’s Day at Ride this week! Our students had a fantastic time exchanging valentines with their classmates and spreading kindness throughout the campus. We wish all of our families a Happy Valentine’s Day and Presidents’ Day!

Looking ahead, next week we will be celebrating Kindness Week at Ride! We are excited to highlight kindness, empathy, and connection as we continue building a positive and supportive school community. Please see flyer below for special dress up days and kindness challenges.

We hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend, and we look forward to welcoming students back on Tuesday, February 17th for another great week of learning.

Upcoming Events

  • Main Street Theater Performance: The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs

Tuesday, February 17th at 9:00 & 10:00 am

  • Second Grade Music Program – If I Built a House!
Thursday, February 26th at 6:00 pm
Our 2nd grade students have been working hard in music class to create a "Storybook Program." They have composed music, created movement and instrument parts to add to and enhance an already wonderful story by Chris Van Dusen.

  • Rodeo Day at Ride
    February 27th
Students are invited to dress up and enjoy fun Rodeo-themed activities in their classrooms and during enrichment.

Safety is our top priority at Ride! Please remind your students that whether they are walking or riding their bikes, they must stop at the crosswalks, look both ways, and make sure it’s safe before crossing.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership. We can’t wait to see all that’s ahead!

With much gratitude,
Laura Collins & Angela Fonville

RideFest Information

RideFest is almost here, and we need our amazing Sally K. Ride families to help make it a success! Our event relies on generous donations from the community to build an incredible silent auction, and we’re also looking for underwriters to help cover event costs so that 100% of the proceeds can go directly back to support our school. If you or someone you know would like to contribute, no amount is too small — every donation makes a difference! Checks and donated items can be made out to the PTO. If you have any questions or would like to get involved, please email skrridefest@gmail.com.

RideFest March 28th

We’re counting down the days until RideFest on March 28th! Every game, activity, and sweet treat is made possible by the generosity of Sally K. Ride families and our community partners. When you donate, we’re able to offer more fun for everyone — and ensure 100% of proceeds go directly to supporting our school and students.

YOU too can be a part of the event! If you (or a company you know) are interested in sponsoring or underwriting an activity, reach out to skrridefest@gmail.com.

With gratitude, a special thanks you to:
Texas Remodel Team and Suzanne Ross Realtor for underwriting our Dunk Tanks
Inspectioneering for sponsoring the Treat Walk

We can’t wait to celebrate together!

All transportation changes must be received by 2:00 p.m. Please send all changes of transportation to ridetransportation@conroeisd.net. The e-mail must include the date, your child’s full name, homeroom teacher, bus number (if applicable), and the guardian's full name. All emails must be received before 2:00 p.m. If you submit a transportation change by email, it must go to the email address referenced above; transportation changes should not be emailed directly to the teacher. If an emergency arises, please contact 281-465-2800.

Please send a new email for each day the change occurs. We cannot accept notes for multiple days or with multiple changes. District policy states that a student may only ride the bus they are registered to ride; therefore, students may not have a transportation change to ride a different bus.

SCHOOL HOURS/ATTENDANCE/TARDY POLICY SCHOOL HOURS/ATTENDANCE/TARDY POLICY

User uploaded image
zoom_out_map

School hours are 7:55 a.m. - 3:10 p.m. Students must be in their classroom before the 7:55 a.m. bell rings, or they will be considered tardy. Please note that 7:30 a.m. is the earliest time that your child may be dropped off. We do not have staff available to supervise students until that time.

Attendance is vitally important to your child’s current educational growth and future development. Research confirms that attendance is one of the greatest factors contributing to student achievement. Please note that if your child comes in after 9:00 a.m., it will count as an absence unless your child has a medical appointment and brings in a school excuse from the doctor.

Tardy Policy

A student is tardy if not in the classroom at 7:55 a.m. If your child is tardy, parents must sign him/her in at the front office. When a student is tardy, an e-mail will be sent to the student’s guardian for notification.

BIRTHDAY TREAT GUIDELINES BIRTHDAY TREAT GUIDELINES

We love celebrating birthdays at school and welcome birthday treats! To ensure the safety and well-being of all students, we ask that families follow the guidelines outlined in the graphic. These guidelines help us manage allergies, classroom time, and school policies. Thank you for helping us make birthday celebrations safe and enjoyable for everyone!

LUNCH VISITOR INFORMATION LUNCH VISITOR INFORMATION

** Please consider limiting lunch visits to once or twice per month for each student, so that all parents have an opportunity to visit for lunch.

**Please limit the number of visitors to no more than two.

**Students may enjoy lunch with their parents/family only; please do not invite other students to eat lunch with your family.

**Please keep students and other children at the tables with you; do not allow them to run or play during lunch time.

NEW FOR 2025:

**We want to ensure the safety and security of everyone as they enjoy time together while visiting at lunch. If a grandparent or other family member wants to visit your child during lunch, the parent must send in written permission to the front office. The note will only need to be sent in once per school year, and at that time a notation will be made in the visitor system so that the school will have a record of the permission being granted. If a note is not sent, we will call a parent to grant permission before the visitor is allowed to join a student for lunch. Notes can be sent to: cvanloh@conroeisd.net
