FMS Weekly Update 5.18.25
February 23, 2025
Week of May 18, 2025
From the Desk of Our Proud Principal
Good evening, Trojan Families!
This is a message from your proud principal, Mrs. Kinard, and the school leaders at Ferndale Middle School. We strongly encourage you to access the digital version of this announcement, available on our school website and social media. It contains additional important information that you and your students need to know.
We are just two weeks away from the End-of-Grade (EOG) tests, and we are so proud of the hard work our students and staff have put in throughout the year. As we enter this critical stretch, we need your continued partnership to help our Trojans finish strong!
Over the next two weeks, our teachers will be focused on reinforcing key skills and building student confidence. Every day and every class period counts, and we are encouraging all students to be fully present and engaged.
Here’s how you can help at home:
-
Make attendance a priority. Students need to be here, on time, every day to get the most out of EOG Prep Academy and class time.
-
Encourage a positive mindset. Remind your child that they are capable and prepared—we believe in them, and your words of encouragement mean everything.
-
Support healthy habits. A good night’s rest, a healthy breakfast, and limited screen time in the evenings can go a long way.
We’re in the final stretch, and with your support, we’re confident that our students will shine! Thank you for being a vital part of our school community and for helping us make these next two weeks focused, energized, and successful.

GCS Immigration Response
Every family should know that every child in Guilford County has the Constitutional right to attend school regardless of immigration status. The Guilford County Schools does not request or record information about a student’s immigration status. Federal and state laws protect student information from disclosure to others, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). GCS does not permit non-students, including ICE agents, access to GCS facilities unless they can produce a warrant signed by a federal judge. School administrators will not permit the disclosure of confidential student information without first consulting their attorney to make sure that the information has been properly subject to a federal judge’s warrant.
Families should consult community resources to learn their rights and additional information will be provided to help families access these resources.
