RESIDENTIAL TO CAYTHORPE COURT

Our Year 5 and 6 pupils from both schools went on residential to Caythorpe Court in Lincolnshire. Despite torrential rain for the duration of the visit, a super time was had by all children and staff. The children were able to develop teamwork skills and challenge themselves continually whilst having lots and lots of fun. As always, we were extremely proud of their attitude and resilience. Residentials enable children to try new activities, to experience different places and to learn new skills. We would like to thank everyone who made this year's one memorable.

LEARNING

Much of our focus this term is on thoughts of summer activities like Sports Day and Leavers' activities. However, lots of deep learning is happening on a daily basis. Look at the observations from some of our youngest children.

'Changing Chicks in Class 1!

We're amazed at how quickly the chicks are changing. Today we noticed how wriggly and strong they've become and admired their developing wing feathers. We also noticed that lots of the chicks are developing tail feathers too. '

REMINDER

Due to the inclement weather this week we had to postpone our Sports' Day. It is now on Wednesday 26th June - Sports Day - 1pm - 3pm. The children and staff are excited about the day's events. It would be great to see you there. Fingers crossed for better weather.

RECYCLING

Mrs Gunn and Mrs Lang are collecting plastic bottle tops. If you have any please give them a rinse and drop them off in Class 1. Many thanks for your help.

CAN YOU HELP?

Do you have any old non-fiction books which are in good condition which you would like to donate to our school library? If you do - please drop them off with the offfice. Many thanks in advance. We know that having a wide range of books encourages children to read. We foster a love of learning and want every child at Sledmere to have a love of reading as it is the door to new and exciting discoveries.

We are looking for a small child's indoor tent or tepee for our hall. If you have an unwanted one we'd can find it a very good home.

CHURCH, GOVERNORS AND COMMUNITY

Our Full Governing Body met this week and we reviewed our achievements and areas for school development. Please look out for information about our new governor committees in September and for details about our parent/ carer version of the School Improvement Plan for the Autumn Term. Thanks to all of our governors for the work they do in supporting school and helping us to continue to improve.

FOWS (Friends of Wetwang School)

Parent teacher Associations play a vital role in the life of any school. They provide enrichment activities for children during their school life and they support the school in providing activities and events which are often outside of the school day. Furthermore, these events are good fun and they can raise valuable funds for school which are then used to provide even more memories for children beyond the formal curriculum.

At present we are in urgent need of some parents and carers to run FOWS. Do you have a little time to support our school and children? If you are interested please speak with the office or with Mr Richardson.

Thank you.

PLACES STILL AVAILABLE IN OUR SCHOOL

We still have places available at our school for September. One of our key aims is to continue to grow our school. Do you know anybody who is looking for a great school, with first rate facilities, highly skilled teachers and fabulous children? Please encourage them to contact school and as we'd be delighted to show them round. Thank you for your support.
