Online Book Club
NAFC is trying something different in 2026.
After a very successful and meaningful study, via Zoom, of this life-changing book last year, weâre now offering an online version. Each Wednesday, weâll be discussing Me and White Supremacy, by Layla Saad, âtogetherâ our Facebook group. A new chapter will be presented each Wednesday and you can check in at any point during the week to share your thoughts and see what others have to say.

âD.E.A.R. stands for âDrop Everything and Read,â a national celebration of reading designed to remind families to make reading a priority activity in their lives. This takes place every year on April 12th.
And then, World Book Night is a nationally celebrated event taking place each year on April 29th. It's a celebration of reading and books for adults and young people. presented by The Reading Agency.
Luckily, NAFC has books stocked in the Little Free Library, just for these occasions! With the weather warming up take a stroll and grab a book for each member of the family
You can read on these holidays and anytime during the month of April (or any month the year, really).
There won't be any protests, shutdowns or filibusters to stop you.

Learning Opportunity
Do you have a hard time finding time to read? We have a great educational opportunity for you! While youâre schlepping kids around or running errands you can listen to Heather McGheeâs fascinating podcast, âThe Sum of Usâ, based on her book with the same title. Please join us on April 30th at the Newtown Congregational Church (lower level) to discuss how we ALL benefit when racism is dismantled. We will specifically be discussing the podcast, but if you are more of a reader than a listener, you can prepare for the discussion by reading the book instead. Youâll find more details in the Eventbrite. Hope to see a big turnout for this important conversation!
