Mrs. Elliott's Message Mrs. Elliott's Message

Hello Maple Families,

I wanted to take a minute to share a little about me, since we have so many students/families who are new to Maple!

This is my fourth year serving as a principal in North Olmsted and my 22nd year working in the district. I am a graduate of North Olmsted High School and attended Kindergarten at this very building! I am proud to be able to serve the families of the same community that I have spent so many years learning in. As a previous literacy coach, READING is a passion of mine and I hope to share that with our students!

Thank you for working with us this week, as our afternoons have been very warm. It has been helpful for students to dress cool and bring water bottles to school. Next week's temperatures are looking more comfortable.

A reminder that our school day begins promptly at 8:10a.m. Students are permitted to begin entering the building at 7:55, so if you are a parent transport keep this in mind! We appreciate your help in having our students begin their day on time and in the best way.

Upcoming Dates

  • 9/2 ~ No School (Labor Day)
  • 9/6 ~ BROWN'S DAY
  • 9/9 ~ MAP testing begins in Reading for all Grades
  • 9/11 ~ Maple PTA Meeting at 6:30 in media center
  • 9/16 ~ MAP testing begins in Math for all Grades
  • 9/19 ~ Father's or Special Person's Walk to School Day

Happy Labor Day,

Mrs. Elliott

Stay in the Game! 🏈 Stay in the Game! 🏈

North Olmsted City Schools and the Cleveland Browns are kicking off a new partnership this year promoting school attendance as part of the "Stay in the Game! Keep Learning, Every Day" Network.

The "Stay in the Game!" Network is a statewide initiative designed to promote the importance of school attendance. It builds a school-going culture, uncover and reduce common barriers to attendance, and support student engagement opportunities.

Every student that is present everyday next week (all 4 days) will be entered into a drawing to receive three FREE BROWNS TICKETS to the home opener next Sunday, September 8th against the Dallas Cowboys at 4:25pm.

To celebrate this new partnership and in honor of the home opener, next Friday, September 6th will be Brown's Day at Maple Elementary School. Students are encouraged to come dressed in their Brown's gear!!!

Classroom Connections 💡 Classroom Connections 💡

Our teachers have been working with students this past week on setting expectations and routines and brainstorming what it Looks Like & Sounds Like to follow our Maple School Pledge. Each classroom has been sharing information about themselves and who they are together as a learning community. Relationships are growing stronger each and everyday!!

Check out some of the thinking behind these lessons below.

Fall Testing Fall Testing

Our fall testing will begin this week at Maple. All students are assessed in reading and math to provide our staff with data to help guide our instruction. Aimsweb is given to assess progress towards becoming fluent readers.

MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) is given in both reading and mathematics. These computer-based assessments are given in the fall, winter and spring of each year. Results are used to set goals and pathways for learning!

Encouragement and reinforcement from families is always welcomed & appreciated!
