Paine Celebrates Read Across America Week with a Focus on Kindness
Paine Elementary proudly celebrated Read Across America Week in partnership with the National Education Association’s Read Across America initiative. This year’s theme, Choose Kindness, served as a meaningful reminder that small acts of kindness can make a big difference in our school and community.
Throughout the week, Paine welcomed a wonderful group of community leaders, district administrators, community members, and parents who generously gave their time to visit classrooms and share their love of reading with our students. Each guest helped reinforce the importance of literacy while also discussing what it means to choose kindness in our everyday lives.
Paine is grateful for the many individuals who helped make this week so special for our students. Opportunities like these strengthen the connection between our school and community while inspiring a lifelong love of reading.
Cahaba Elementary celebrated Read Across America Week with a variety of activities designed to inspire a love of reading. The week began with a joyful Book Character Parade starring our kindergarten and first grade students, who proudly dressed as their favorite literary characters. Throughout the week, each classroom was “booked” with a special bag of read aloud books connected to the daily reading themes and fun dress up days.
Students also enjoyed visits from a wide range of celebrity readers who helped bring stories to life. High school athletes, government leaders, Trussville City Schools administrators, authors, and community helpers all stopped by to read with students and share their love of books. The week was a wonderful celebration of reading and a reminder that stories connect us all.
This week, Magnolia Elementary students welcomed Mayor Ben Short, as well as Mrs. Jaime Anderson, Trussville City Council President, as "surprise readers!"
Mark your calendars and come watch the Hewitt Trussville Mountain Bike high school and middle school teams defend their state championships! The high school team will be working to win our 7th state championship while our middle school team will be working to win a fourth consecutive state championship! Middle school races on Saturday. High school races on Sunday. Join us at some great outdoor venues around the state. Look for our Hewitt flags and tent. We hope to see you there!
