May 24
This is a reminder that May 24 is a full working day for all faculty and staff. Please note that per district policy, no personal leave will be approved for this day, and all sick leave will require documentation to be submitted in advance or immediately after for the day to be a paid day. All teachers should be working on the EOY close out on this day, as well as cleaning out & packing your rooms. This checklist will be added to next week's Final Edition newsletter. Checklists will be signed for closeout ONLY on 5/24. Please do not seek out folks for the required signatures prior to the 24th.
All teachers who are not returning to Wright:
- If you are transferring within the district, your laptop will move with you to the new location.
-If you are resigning from the district, you MUST return all technology before you leave.
Clearing out rooms for summer cleaning
Summer is a very busy and hard time for the custodial staff. Please ensure that you ensure the following prior to your departure for the summer on May 24:
- Empty and box all materials that are in filing cabinets. Add your name. room number and label the contents.
- Empty and box all materials in teachers' desk drawers. Add your name. room number and label the contents.
- Empty and box all materials on moveable bookshelves. Add your name. room number and label the contents.
- If you are discarding old textbooks of any other large books, do not throw them in the trash. Create a pile near the trashcan and label the pile as "trash" for removal. Books thrown in the trash cause the trash bags to rip & break, adding to the custodial burden.
Please note that if these requests are not followed, one of two things may happen: your room will not get properly cleaned and waxed; or custodians will empty and move your stuff, and there is a danger of things being misplaced, lost, or damaged.
Therefore, in the interest of all, please ensure the above steps while packing your room up for the summer.
Recognitions continue to pour in
Mr. Binkley shared this amazing recognition that the Wright Players continue to receive: Wright Middle’s dual language show this year is featured in this article, which is in every program given to audience members currently watching the run of the musical Frozen being performed at TPAC right now until it closes. What a well-deserved recognition!

Podcasting Worshop
For the first time and fittingly to align with our magnet theme, several of our students completed a podcast workshop with The Porch, a writing nonprofit to learn the basics of interviewing, podcasting, use of microphones, and manipulating podcasting software on the computer. This was a great trial run for the kinds of things we can do in the coming school year. This workshop was a great hit with our kids. See photos below.
