March Newsletter from Mrs. Tapia
Dear Wildcat Families,
March is here, and with it comes a month full of learning, movement, school spirit, and important updates!
Forgiveness: Our Character Focus for March
This month, our whole school will be studying forgiveness. At school, forgiveness means learning how to repair friendships after disagreements, giving others a second chance when mistakes happen, and choosing kindness even when feelings are hurt. These skills help create a safe, respectful, and caring campus where everyone can learn and grow. We encourage families to talk with students about what forgiveness looks like at home and in friendships, too.
Spring Conferences & Report Cards
Spring conferences will take place March 9–13. Teachers will reach out directly if a conference is needed.
Trimester 2 report cards will be available starting March 9th on the Illuminate Family Portal. You will receive a separate email once they are ready to view.

The Bike Mobile is coming!
We want to see more families riding their bikes to Altamont Creek. That’s why we’ve invited the
BikeMobile to provide free tune ups & repairs for parents and children.
The BikeMobile can fix flat tires, adjust brakes and gears, and even replace broken or worn out
parts like chains, seats, and tires. The only thing it can’t do is replace missing wheels or gears.
While the mechanics work on your bike they’ll explain how to keep it running smooth.
Bike or no bike, everyone is welcome to attend to learn about maintenance, safety, and more!
This is a first come, first serve event.
Bring your bikes outside the Altamont Creek MPR on Monday, March 9th between 1:30-4:00pm. We look forward to seeing you
there!

ROSTERING OF STUDENTS FOR 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR
Toward the end of this school year, the staff at Altamont Creek will begin planning for our next school year. Part of our planning process is rostering students. We are committed to building balanced classrooms. Research indicates achievement is higher in classrooms with healthy dynamics; therefore, we week to build the best possible dynamics in EVERY classroom. Classes are balanced for number of students, gender, academic levels, personality types, student behaviors, and special needs. This is a challenging task. As part of the process, the staff must make recommendations for student placement that best meet the needs of all our students.
Although teachers' styles vary, each grade level spends significant time collaborating to make sure the same grade level standards are applied and, from class to class, each student receives a comparable education. Teachers, administrators, and specialists will follow a systematic process to ensure each child is placed in an appropriate and positive learning environment.
Parents often have a preferred teacher and teachers have families with whom they have built relationships with over the years. However, allowing parent requests severely hampers our staff's ability to create balanced classed. As a result, we have a NO TEACHER REQUEST policy. If you feel your child has a specific need you feel I need to be aware of, please complete the form (link below). Please DO NOT INCLUDE TEACHER NAME(S), as those will not be considered. Forms will be accepted until Friday, April 10th.
Wildcat Tank
The Wildcat Tank is a fun showcase where students use STEM to invent a product that improves everyday life. Each student/group presents their idea through a presentation board with drawings (front, back, side, and isometric views), the product’s purpose, and key features. Students/groups are not required to have a physical model of their product. The idea/pitch is what matters the most!
On the day of the competition, students will arrive with their presentation materials, and one by one, present their product idea to a panel of 3-5 different judges from professional STEM careers! The judges will rate their overall pitch through a rubric that looks at your pitch, product idea, overall presentation, and more! Scan the QR codes below to either register or gain more information on joining the competition!

Special Education Update
Our District has been working to clearly define our Special Education programs and establish a more consistent TK–12+ continuum of services. This work strengthens transitions between grade levels and ensures students have clear, well-defined pathways of support across schools. The alignment plan was developed to provide parents, guardians, students, and staff with a shared understanding and clearer descriptions of our programs. It is intended to clarify and strengthen our continuum of services for students with an IEP and does not eliminate supports for students. As part of this effort, we will share our detailed alignment plan and program descriptions in an upcoming parent newsletter and post additional information on the District website before the end of the school year to keep families informed.

A Message from Right At School
Parents, let's talk about those extra hours in your child's day. There are 24 hours total- about 10-12 spent sleeping and 6 hours in school. That leaves around 6 precious hours ...and that's where the fun begins!
At RAS,we turn afterschool time and school breaks into meaningful, screen free adventures your child will actually look forward to.
Before School: Before the bell rings, let your child dive into a morning of adventure, creativity, and excitement with Right Club’s Before School program! Drop your kid off when it works for your schedule! Our programs are flexible so kids can join in whenever they arrive, so they can start their day in a fun and easy-going way. Kids enjoy different activity stations like Right Moves fun fitness and Inspiration Stations where they can exercise their creativity.
After School: During Right Club After School, hosted on-site at your kid's school, kids have time to get homework done, then take part in games, crafts, and STEM challenges that keep them engaged in learning (and off their screens). Our 2025-26 curriculum offers 19 brand-new journeys, each with countless activities that go beyond the classroom to help your child discover who they are and what they’re passionate about.
Break Camps (Winter Break, Spring Break, and Non-School Days): When school is out, fun is IN with RAS Camps! Take part in a week-long adventure full of STEM activities, learning challenges, and wacky art projects. RAS Camps are flexible. Your family can pick the number of days you need care, and drop off and pick up when it suits your schedule.
