In December, our school will be focusing on empathy—understanding and caring about how others feel. Students will practice noticing the feelings of their classmates, offering support, and showing kindness through their words and actions. This month’s activities and circle discussions will help students build stronger relationships and contribute to a positive, inclusive school community. We encourage you to talk with your child at home about ways they can show empathy in everyday situations.

Here are a few questions you can use as conversation starters with your child:

How can you tell if someone is feeling sad, worried, or excited?
How would you feel if you were in someone else's shoes in that situation?
How can our family show empathy to each other at home?
What do you like people to do for you when you are having a tough day? What can you do for someone else who is having a tough day?
