April 2026
Message From The Principal
Dear Mustang Families,
As we enter the month of April, I want to take a moment to thank you for your continued support and partnership. This time of year is especially important as we prepare for the final stretch of the school year and upcoming state assessments.
Our students and teachers have been working hard each day to build knowledge, strengthen skills, and demonstrate growth. I am incredibly proud of the focus, resilience, and determination our students are showing. At Yeager Middle School, we remain committed to ensuring that every student is supported, challenged, and prepared for success.
As we approach GMAS testing, we ask for your support in helping your child be successful. Please ensure that students:
- Get a good night’s rest
- Arrive to school on time each day
- Come prepared with a positive mindset
We encourage you to stay connected through our newsletters, website, and communication platforms so you don’t miss out on end of the year activities.
Together, we will finish this school year strong. Thank you for being an essential part of our Mustang community.
With appreciation,
Tameka Bonner
Principal, Yeager Middle School
April Academic Focus: Finishing Strong & Showing Growth
April is a critical month for teaching, learning, and demonstrating progress. Our focus is on reinforcing key standards, strengthening student confidence, and preparing for success on the Georgia Milestones Assessment System (GMAS).
What Students Are Working On:
- Reviewing priority standards in ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies
- Engaging in targeted small-group instruction based on student needs
- Practicing critical thinking, writing, and problem-solving skills
- Building stamina and confidence for testing
Instructional Priorities at YMS:
- Data-Driven Instruction: Teachers are using assessment data to tailor instruction and provide support where students need it most
- Small Group Learning: Students are receiving focused support in teacher-led groups, independent practice, and technology-based learning (iReady)
- Consistent Practice: Students are completing regular skill-based practice aligned to GMAS expectations
How Families Can Support at Home:
- Ensure your child is present and on time each day
- Encourage at least 20–30 minutes of reading nightly
- Ask your child about what they are learning and reviewing in class
- Reinforce a positive mindset and confidence
At Yeager Middle School, we believe greatness is built daily, and April is our opportunity to bring together everything students have learned this year. Thank you for partnering with us to support student success!
Attendance Matters: Every Day Counts!
At Yeager Middle School, our goal is simple: Every student, every day, on time.
Consistent attendance is essential to student success—especially as we enter this critical time of review and assessment. Each day of instruction builds on the next, and being present ensures students don’t miss important learning, small-group support, and opportunities to grow.
Why It Matters:
- Daily lessons are focused on key standards and GMAS preparation
- Students receive targeted support and feedback
- Consistency builds confidence and academic success
How Families Can Help:
- Make school attendance a daily priority
- Ensure students arrive on time and ready to learn
- Schedule appointments outside of school hours when possible
Together, we can ensure that every Mustang is set up for success. Let’s commit to showing up strong every day—because attendance matters!
Math Night: A Night of Learning, Fun, and Family Engagement
Yeager Middle School recently hosted an exciting and engaging Math Night, bringing together students, families, and staff for an evening focused on building math confidence and strengthening academic skills.
Families had the opportunity to experience hands-on activities, interactive games, and real-time problem-solving strategies that support student learning in the classroom. From collaborative challenges to technology-based learning experiences, the energy in the room reflected a shared commitment to student success.
One of the highlights of the evening was seeing students actively engaged alongside their families—working through math problems, asking questions, and celebrating their progress. Events like Math Night help bridge the gap between school and home by giving families practical tools and strategies they can use to support learning beyond the classroom.
In addition to the activities, families also received important information about GMAS testing, including what to expect and how to best support their child during this critical time. This partnership ensures that our students feel confident, prepared, and ready to succeed.
At Yeager Middle School, we believe that learning is a team effort. Thank you to all of our families, students, and staff who made Math Night a success. Together, we are building strong mathematicians and confident learners every day.
Math in Action: Learning Together

Yeager Band Earns Superior Ratings at LGPE
We are proud to celebrate an outstanding achievement by our Yeager Middle School Band! In March, our talented musicians earned all Superior ratings at the Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE)—the highest ratings possible.
This marks the second consecutive year that our Yeager Band has achieved this level of excellence across all performance areas. Their success is a direct reflection of the dedication, discipline, and countless hours of practice demonstrated by our students and their director.
Throughout the year, our band students have committed themselves to refining their musical skills, working collaboratively, and striving for excellence. Their hard work truly paid off, and we could not be more proud of their accomplishments.
Congratulations to our Yeager Band for representing our school with pride and excellence. Your commitment to greatness continues to set the standard!
