Holy Rosary
NEWSLETTER | TERM 1| WEEK 8| 28 MAR 2025
In the spirit of Luke 15:1-3,11-32, let us pray for the lost and the found, for those who stray and those who return, and for the boundless joy of forgiveness and reconciliation, echoing the message of God's unwavering love and mercy.
Amen
Dear Parents, Friends, Guardians, and Staff,
What a fantastic day at the swimming carnival! The passion and sportsmanship shown by our students were truly inspiring. A huge shoutout to our Physical Education teacher, Rob Flexman, for all the hard work behind the scenes - it takes a lot to pull off such a successful event, and we are so grateful! A big thank you to our wonderful staff who helped set up, our dedicated parents who volunteered their time, and our fabulous P & F for keeping everyone refreshed and hydrated with ice poles. What a team effort!
Attendance - it really does matter! As a teacher, I completely understand how challenging it can be to navigate the higher costs of flights and accommodation during school holidays (believe me, I’ve been there too). But taking holidays during term time can have a big impact on your child’s learning. Even a little bit of absenteeism can add up, affecting academic progress, social development, and long-term success. Let’s work together to make sure every school day counts.
Now, onto something exciting: the P & F has an incredible social event lined up for next week, Wine and Cheese Night! It’s time to book your babysitters or call in the grandparents because this strictly adults-only evening promises to be a fantastic way to meet other parents and strengthen our vibrant Holy Rosary community. Don’t miss out, buy your tickets online now as ticket sales strictly close at 6pm Monday. No ticket, no entry.
It’s also wonderful to see so many parents booking meetings with their child’s teacher. If you haven’t had the chance yet, it’s not too late - there’s still time to schedule your meeting. These meeting strengthen our parentship in your child’s learning.
Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy cheering on the Eagles as they soar to their first victory this year in the derby. Go Eagles!
Kind Regards
Michael O'Dwyer
Principal

Our wonderful Mrs. Walsh has been busy tending to our herb garden, and she’s got plenty of eager little helpers! 🪴🌱💚 It’s amazing to see our students so engaged, learning about plants, sustainability, and the joy of growing their own food.
A big thank you to Mrs. Walsh for sharing her passion for science and gardening with our Holy Rosary students! 🌿👏

The program focuses on telling the broader cancer story, including how to support someone who is facing their own cancer diagnosis or that of a loved one. We believe this will be an informative and beneficial session for all our students.
Specific information about what is covered in the presentations to each year level, can be found in the Letter to Educators and Families, attached below.
🔤✨ R is for… Rolling, Reading & Radiant Learning! ✨🔤
Our clever Pre-Primary students have been getting hands-on with the letter R—rolling out playdough to form the letter and bringing their learning to life! 🌟🎨
Play-based activities like this help develop fine motor skills, letter recognition, and a love for learning. Plus, it's so much fun! Keep up the great work, little learners! 👏💙
Preparing for Easter: Join Us in Prayer and Reflection
In Week 10, we will gather in prayer and reflection to prepare our hearts for Easter. We warmly invite families to join us for these two events:
✝️ Easter Mass (Years 1-6)
Our Year 6 students will lead us in a reverent Easter Mass on Thursday, 10th April at 9:40am. Families are invited to join us as we reflect on the significance of this holy season.
✝️ Stations of the Cross Re-enactment
Our Year 4 students have been working hard to prepare a moving re-enactment of the Stations of the Cross. This will take place on Friday, 11th April at 9:00am in the gym.
We look forward to sharing these special events with our school community.
🔬✨ Science in Action! ✨🎈
Our Year 6 scientists have been busy experimenting in the lab, using balloons, funnels, and a whole lot of curiosity to explore exciting science concepts! 🧪💡 Hands-on learning like this helps develop problem-solving skills, creativity, and a love for discovery.
It’s always fun watching our students investigate, predict, and experiment—who knows what they’ll discover next?! 🚀🔍

The King of Kings
Exciting news – there is an upcoming cinematic event that promises to inspire and uplift our communities, especially our children. Angel Studios, the creators of impactful Christian stories The Chosen and Sound of Freedom, together with Rialto Distribution, is set to release THE KING OF KINGS in cinemas on 10 April 2025 in Australia.
This animated film, featuring an all-star cast including Kenneth Branagh, Uma Thurman, Mark Hamil, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley, Forest Whitaker, and Oscar Isaac, brings to life the story of Jesus Christ through the imaginative lens of Charles Dickens narrating to his son, Walter. You can watch the trailer here https://youtu.be/Ddiqz3BT7i8 .
THE KING OF KINGS is more than just a movie—it’s a powerful tool for faith formation and moral reflection. This heartfelt retelling of Christ’s journey emphasises His love, sacrifice, and triumph, making it especially relevant for children as they grow in their understanding of faith. Through its engaging storytelling and stunning animation, the film connects timeless Christian values—compassion, courage, and hope—to the challenges of our modern world. It’s an opportunity to inspire young hearts and minds while offering families a shared experience that reinforces the Gospel in a fresh, relatable way.
