Lemonade Stand Tomorrow!
GirlStart
Murchison Elementary will be hosting GirlStart again this Fall. Girlstart After School provides 4th & 5th-grade girls with a fun, free, weekly STEM enrichment program in the fall and spring semesters that builds confidence and encourages them to pursue paths to higher education and discover more significant career opportunities. Additionally, Girlstart After School seeks to enhance and supplement girls’ classroom science learning through engaging activities that introduce important STEM concepts in a hands-on and informal environment. As a standards-aligned STEM program, Girlstart After School supports the science and math learning recovery for our participants. Girlstart’s STEM CREW program leaders serve as role models and empower their program members to be “brave, creative, and curious.” Click here for a short video to explore a few reasons to participate.
The first Girlstart club will be on September 17th and will take place weekly on Thursdays from 3:00-4:15 p.m in room 402. Students can sign up by completing the registration/permission form found here: Registration Form (English) or Registration Form (Spanish). The deadline to apply is Tuesday, September 15th as we can only accommodate 20 participants. This program will run from September 17 to November 12, 2026. Participation in Girlstart will be determined on a first-come, first-served basis. Please ensure that weekly participation will be consistent before registering your child.
If you have questions or concerns, please contact Chinwe Onwujuba (chinwe.onwujuba@pfisd.net)
Destination Imagination Interest Form
Is your child interested in Destination Imagination (DI)? DI gives students the opportunity to work as a team, think creatively, solve challenges, and put their ideas into action! If your child is interested in participating this year, please complete our DI Interest Form by September 21st, 2026.
Important: Teams can only be formed if we have enough parent/guardian volunteers to serve as Team Managers. Completing the interest form does not guarantee placement on a team, as the number of teams will depend on volunteer availability.

We’re excited to see how many of our Mustangs are ready to imagine, create, and problem solve this year!
Garden Updates
We are growing a garden! To be part of this rewarding experience, see the information below or click here to read more!
Dot Day!
In art class, we read the book, The Dot, by Peter H. Reynolds. We had discussions about ways we like to be creative and shared about adults who have inspired us to be brave enough to try new things! We also made a school wide Dot art display right outside the library! Tuesday, September 15th is International Dot Day - a day that celebrates creativity. I would like to invite your child to wear dots on Tuesday to celebrate the day with me!

School Rules-the 3 Be's
We have three rules at Murchison, also known at the 3 Be's: Be Safe, Be Respectful, and Be Responsible. We regularly talk to the students about ways they can follow the 3 Be's while at school. Here are some examples that you can use to implement these same rules at home or in the community:
- Be Safe: Children can show examples of being safe by staying with their parent in a parking lot and using crosswalks to cross the street.
- Be Respectful: Children can be respectful by holding doors open for others and using an appropriate voice level when indoors.
- Be Responsible: Children can be responsible by keeping their room clean and helping to clear the table after they finish eating.

Grandparents Day
Grandparents Day at Murchison is on Monday, September 21. If you would like to purchase a lunch from the cafeteria, please email our cafeteria manager, Ms. Mamie, with your lunch choice by September 14. That way she can ensure she has enough food ordered! The lunch choices are:

I have also listed the lunch times and tables below. Visitors should plan to come early to park and be seated at their student's table in the cafeteria to greet their student by the start of the lunch time.
