WEEK 26
Week 26 (March 3 -7)
Greetings World Class Parents/Guardians,
Thank you, parents, for an outstanding week! A huge shout-out to our STEM & Black History Committees and all the incredible volunteers who worked tirelessly to organize our annual STEM night and this year's Black History Program. WOW! The students truly shined, and we couldn’t be prouder. We are also grateful to the staff, parents, and students who joined us and made the event unforgettable.
We are excited to announce that our Title I tutors will begin offering small group instruction to support our students. This week, Ms. Dyer and Dr. Ford will work with scholars in grades 3-5, and starting March 13th, Ms. Wilson will support our Kindergarten through Grade 2 scholars
This month kicks off A major initiative for our school: The HORNET HUSTLE. Our goal is to achieve 100% participation, and I need your help to make that happen. Let’s meet this goal team! We currently have raised $2961 dollars -14% of our $20,000 goal!
Our class leaders are
1st grade with $640
2nd grade with $550
5th grade with $250 - (Woo Hoo, 5th grade is on the board! For the first time since 2020- let's go!!)
Did you know that most activities in Hawthorne Elementary are run by donations and volunteers. These donations provide funding for indoor and outdoor updates, interpretation services, and teacher/STEM supplies. Please consider helping our school and our children's education by making a donation today. We recognize these past two years have posed many difficulties, so instead of focusing on amounts donated, let's aim for 100% participation. Every penny adds up to amazing results and rewards our kids and help them to get prizes as well!
Give today at www.Heshustle.com or send cash or a check to school with your child. Please include an email address for your tax receipt. Spread the word to family and friends!
The race begins at 9 a.m. on March 6th! We hope lots of parents will join us.
Please wear your Hustle T-shirt or hornet costume!

Thank you to Mrs. Spitz for facilitating our upcoming Scholastic Book Fair and to ALL of the parents that volunteered for Book Previews and Book Fair assistance!!
Let’s continue to work together to ensure the safety of our campus. We’ve made tremendous progress with your cooperation, but we must remain vigilant, especially during carpool hours. Please prioritize the safety of our students by following staff instructions during both AM and PM carpool times. Every one of us has an essential role in maintaining a secure environment.
As we continue to work together, it is critical that we remain focused on safety. Thanks to your cooperation, we’ve done well in this area, but it’s essential that we stay vigilant—especially during carpool hours. Please prioritize student safety by following the guidance of our staff during both AM and PM carpool times. We all play a role in ensuring that everyone on campus remains safe.
Additionally, I cannot emphasize enough how important student attendance is to their academic success. It’s essential that your child is present and on time every school day, unless they are genuinely ill. Our goal this year is to ensure that students miss no more than 18 days of school. While last year our overall attendance rate was 93%, our target this year is 95%, and we need your full support to help us reach this goal. Consistent attendance ensures that every student has the opportunity to receive the education they deserve.
As always, thank you for entrusting us with the privilege of educating and nurturing your children. Your ongoing support plays a crucial role in making a positive impact, and we truly appreciate it.
Let’s make this week count—on purpose as we continue to Go for G.O.L.D - Growing Our Learners Daily!
Proud to Serve,
-Principal Henley
