KES Vision and Mission Statement
The vision of Kewaskum Elementary School is to guide our students to be respectful, hopeful, compassionate, and responsible individuals who recognize and take ownership in their educational journey.
The mission of Kewaskum Elementary School is to develop the whole child by providing an engaging and nurturing environment through high-quality teaching and learning.
KES Learning Night Rocked
Our hallways were humming with more than just the sound of school bells this past week! Thank you to all the families who joined us for our KES Learning Night. It was incredible to see our students take center stage and show off their "backstage" hard work and enjoy the different activities. A few pictures of the guest readers.
Student of the Month
Each month, every classroom teacher selects one student to nominate for Student of the Month. These students are chosen based on consistent good behavior, strong effort in the classroom, being a positive role model for others, and going above and beyond KES behavior standards. We are proud to recognize students who demonstrate kindness, responsibility, and perseverance each day.
Congratulations to the following students…

KES Vision of a Learner
At Kewaskum Elementary, we believe every child can grow into a confident, caring, and capable learner. Our Vision of a Learner outlines the important skills and habits that help students succeed in school and in life.
This vision grows with your child from 4K through 5th grade, focusing on eight key areas:
✅ Community Contributors – caring, respectful, and responsible members of their community.
✅ Effective Communicators – share ideas clearly and listen to others.
✅ Creative Problem Solvers – think critically and find solutions.
✅ Resilient Learners – persevere, try new things, and learn from mistakes.
✅ Digital Citizens – use technology responsibly.
✅ Healthy Individuals – practice self-care, good habits, and balance.
✅ Responsible Collaborators – work well with peers and adults.
✅ Future Focused – set goals and dream big.
Question for the Monthly Focus
March – Future Focused
Students set short-term goals and dream about the future.
Ask your child: “What’s a goal you’re working toward right now?”
Battle of the Books
Our hallways were buzzing with talk of characters, plots, and "who wrote what?" as our students gear up for this year’s Battle of the Books.
This program is more than just a competition; it’s a celebration of literacy that encourages our students to dive into diverse genres and work collaboratively. Watching our teams discuss their reading lists with such passion is a testament to the vibrant reading culture we continue to build here in Kewaskum.
It was great to see so many student participate in the competition. Below are pictures of our top teams.
Upcoming State Testing
In later part of March and early April, students in grades 3–8 will participate in the Wisconsin Forward Exam. This statewide assessment measures student progress in English Language Arts and Mathematics. Students in grades 4 and 8 will also take Science, and grade 4 students will take Social Studies.
The Forward Exam is completed online during the school day and is untimed. Staff will support students by providing a calm and structured testing environment.
Families can help by ensuring students get plenty of rest, eat a healthy breakfast, and are encouraged to do their best. Thank you for your support during testing season!
Next Year
It's hard to believe that we are already getting ready to plan class lists for next year. Please see this important message about requests.
If you have a request for a specific learning style for your child, please complete this KES Teacher Request Document or Spanish Form no later than March 27th for the 26-27 school year and email it to mgetz@kewaskumschools.org. Due to the amount of work and attention to detail that each teacher puts into planning class lists, any requested changes in student placement will not be guaranteed after April 30th.
KES Yearbooks
Yearbook sales are open, now until March 15th. Please be sure to order during that time as there will not be extras.
