KES Vision and Mission Statement
The vision of Kewaskum Elementary School is to guide our students to be respectful, hopeful, compassionate, and responsible individuals who recognize and take ownership in their educational journey.
The mission of Kewaskum Elementary School is to develop the whole child by providing an engaging and nurturing environment through high-quality teaching and learning.
KES Vision of a Learner
At Kewaskum Elementary, we believe every child can grow into a confident, caring, and capable learner. Our Vision of a Learner outlines the important skills and habits that help students succeed in school and in life.
This vision grows with your child from 4K through 5th grade, focusing on eight key areas:
✅ Community Contributors – caring, respectful, and responsible members of their community.
✅ Effective Communicators – share ideas clearly and listen to others.
✅ Creative Problem Solvers – think critically and find solutions.
✅ Resilient Learners – persevere, try new things, and learn from mistakes.
✅ Digital Citizens – use technology responsibly.
✅ Healthy Individuals – practice self-care, good habits, and balance.
✅ Responsible Collaborators – work well with peers and adults.
✅ Future Focused – set goals and dream big.
Question for the Monthly Focus
May – Celebrating Growth
Students reflect on their progress as learners and leaders.
Ask your child: “What’s something you can do now that was hard at the start of the year?”
Appointments
As we continue through this busy school month, I want to share a quick reminder to help us keep our focus on learning right up until the final bell. To ensure your child is packed and ready for you—and to minimize interruptions to classroom instruction—please notify both the front office and your child’s teacher in advance if possible if they need to leave early.
Musical 4th and 5th Grade
4th and 5th grade will be performing their annual spring musical at KHS on Thursday, May 7th. The fourth and fifth graders will be performing their musical at 6 PM and again at 7PM. The doors will open at 5:30 PM. Students are report to the band room. Seating will be limited please be respectful in your seat selection.
Student Password for 5th to 6th Grade
In late June, an email will be sent out to student email accounts containing their new password. We kindly ask that you remind your child to write it down in a safe place for future reference. Once the password changes are made, your child will not be able to use their current password to access their accounts.
More specific information will be shared with families in May and June.
New Fence
Softball Diamond:
Current Fencing and Field Use
You may have noticed that a temporary fence is currently in place. In previous years, this fence was installed on game days and removed immediately afterward. This season, the fence will remain in place throughout the season due to increased daily after-school practice use of the field.
During the school day, KES students will still have access to the green space surrounding the softball field during recess, and the field area itself will be more intentionally usable as part of the overall outdoor space for KES students. While the field will continue to support school-sponsored activities, it will also be designed to better accommodate KES student recess use and community youth groups. This approach allows us to maximize outdoor play opportunities for KES students while still protecting the field, managing use appropriately, and ensuring it remains safe and well-maintained for organized activities.

KES Library NewS
It’s hard to believe we’re already nearing the end of the school year—time has flown by!
As we head into the final weeks, here are a few important library dates to keep in mind:
- Last day for library checkout: Thursday, May 21
- All library books due: Thursday, May 28
To make things a little more fun, we’ll also be kicking off our End-of-Year Library Challenge! The first grade level to return all of their library books will earn a popsicle party.
We appreciate your help in making sure books are returned on time so our library stays in great shape for everyone!
Happy reading!
Bus Pass Procedures
To ensure the safety of all students and maintain accurate bus rosters, please remember the following requirements if your child plans to ride a different bus home with a friend:
Written Consent: We require a signed note from both households (the visiting student’s parent and the host student’s parent).
Office Check-in: Students must bring these notes to the front office in the morning to receive an official school bus pass.
Safety First: Drivers will only allow guest riders who have a pass issued by the office. This ensures we know exactly who is on every bus in the event of an emergency.
