Treasurer’s Update Treasurer’s Update

As a non-profit organization, our PTO reinvests the revenue we generate back into our CAS school community. The flyer below outlines all of the initiatives and programs that we've funded so far this school year. We also inherited a healthy checking account balance from our predecessors that we're able to tap into. And we'll be receiving two helpful grants from the Madison Education Association to put towards two of our Spring programs.

Get Ready for the Spring Book Fair! Get Ready for the Spring Book Fair!

Yes, you're reading our flyer correctly... we're starting with FAMILY SHOPPING first this year. (We had to adjust the set-up schedule around Family Reading Night on 3/19 followed by the school closure for Eid on 3/20).

Parents, students and staff are invited to shop at the Book Fair from 5pm-8pm on Monday, March 23rd. Feel free to come by with the whole family, or just solo when you're at CAS for Parent-Teacher Conferences. Parents can do some window shopping, get a sense of our inventory and pricing, check out our Teacher Wish List Board and even create a list of "book suggestions" for their children to reference when shopping with their classroom.

On Tuesday, March 24th and Wednesday, March 25th, students will visit the Book Fair with their classes and shop during the school day.

More details and updates to follow! But for now, please check out our SignUpGenius and consider signing up to volunteer for a shift!

Monster Art Monster Art

Second graders will be participating in an exciting upcoming assembly called Monster Art!

Back in October at CAS, students created their own original monster drawings, which were then sent to MHS. Since then, high school art students have been hard at work transforming those creative drawings into detailed paintings and sculptures.

On March 26th, the high school artists will visit our school to present their finished creations to each second grader. There will be a special mini-exhibit showcasing all of the artwork for students to walk through and enjoy.

Following the assembly, pizza will be provided as second graders have the opportunity to talk with their high school buddies about their artwork and creative process!

Looking Ahead: Grades 3–5 New Jersey Student Learning Assessments (NJSLA) Looking Ahead: Grades 3–5 New Jersey Student Learning Assessments (NJSLA)

This spring, students in grades 3–5 will participate in the New Jersey Student Learning Assessments (NJSLA), which measure progress in English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, and Science and help guide instructional planning across the state. The testing schedule is as follows: Grade 5 Science on April 28 & 29; Mathematics (Grades 3–5) on May 5, 6, & 7; and ELA (Grades 3–5) on May 19, 20, & 21.

Beginning this year, the traditional NJSLA will transition to the NJSLA-Adaptive, a computer-adaptive assessment that adjusts question difficulty in real time to better measure each student’s strengths while continuing to assess the same New Jersey Student Learning Standards. The Department of Education is hosting Parent Virtual Information Sessions to provide more details; please review the Parent Information Session Flyer for dates and times. Additional information about testing procedures and preparation tips will be shared soon. Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting our students’ success.

Global Day of Unplugging Global Day of Unplugging

Global Day of Unplugging (GDU) is a worldwide 24-hour digital pause encouraging individuals, families, schools, and communities to step away from screens and reconnect in meaningful, face-to-face ways. The attached letter has additional information regarding GDU.
