ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER FOR GOD'S GOOD PURPOSES
"And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28
Principal's Corner
The days go slow, but the years go fast. It is now already February of 2025 and while we still have a good portion of this school year to go, we have already begun planning for the upcoming 2025-26 school year and beyond. We invite families to register for the 2025-26 school year when priority registration begins on Feb. 3.
The month of February is an exciting time as we celebrate our Top School Heroes of Orange County. This year we had 3 RHLS teachers/staff selected as finalists for this prestigious honor.
- Ms. Deana Occhipinti, Theater Arts-Drama teacher, is a Top Teacher
- Mrs. Stacey Martinez, Paraeducator, is a Top Employee
- Mrs. Jessica Hickey, Assistant Preschool Director, is a Top Leader
All 3 RHLS School Heroes were selected by Parents and Parenting OC magazine will appear in the
February issue of Parenting OC magazine.
The month of February includes our annual Grandparents-VIP Day that will take place on Thursday, Feb. 13. Parents of students in Kindergarten–5th grade need to RSVP using the online form so we can plan accordingly.
Let’s celebrate each day as a special gift of life from God, beginning our day in prayer and ending our day in prayer to Jesus Christ who guards, guides, and directs our path for His Glory and good purposes.

GARDEN
Dear Parents,
The RHLS Learning Garden is a curriculum based, multi-sensory, hands-on experience designed to enrich the student's knowledge and appreciation of God's creation. Garden curriculum supports what is taught in the classroom. For example, 4th graders learn about California, so they plant a California Agriculture garden and learn by touch, sight, smell and taste. What a way to reinforce the lesson content in the garden and in their classroom!!!
There is a Fall garden and a Spring garden. Both have planting and harvest visits. You can sign up for 1 or more teachers (use the TABS at the top of the page to sign up for other grades). It is very helpful if you sign up for all 4 visits for a teacher for continuity since each visit is based on what was taught and experienced during prior visits. However, if that is not possible, please sign up for what you can as we are grateful for any time you can commit to!
We also encourage grandparents or other relatives to participate. It's a great way to have a wonderful experience with your child or grandchild (the kids are so proud when their parent, grandparent, etc. are at the visit with them!).
You will receive 1 volunteer hour for every visit you attend. Since we get so many wonderful volunteers this year, we are asking for 1 volunteer from each class to LEAD the lesson; please don't let this hinder your willingness to volunteer. "LEADING" might mean reading a book or guiding students to plant or telling them about the craft or how to observe the garden and fill out their worksheet - guided instructions are provided in advance so please do not be intimidated - this is an easy roll and allows our garden leaders the chance to help kids and answer questions on a more individual basis. Plus, the kids love to see their parents’ involvement! If you are interested, please add in the comments that you are willing to lead.
Garden Preparation/Clean Out Days are not student visit days but typically on a weekend or afterschool where we need to clean out the garden to ready it for a new season of planting or where we need to make sure the garden looks spic and span for Open House. These are great opportunities for working parents to volunteer outside of the work day and usually go pretty quickly if we have lots of help! You will receive service hours for every hour you work.
Garden Maintenance Days are times between planting and harvest where we just need some extra help maintaining the garden, mostly pulling weeds, ensuring garden is clean, etc. These can be done in your own time (within the week noted) and will receive 1 hour of volunteer time for each time slot.
Questions? Contact Lindsay Manning at asulinz@hotmail.com or 949-307-5667. Thank you for helping us! We look forward to another year of our learning garden!
SCHOOL SAFETY
Hello there!
Thank you for subscribing to our "Download" newsletter. I've received great feedback from parents about how the information we share in the Download helps them feel informed and confident. I love that. Please share it with anyone!
This is a quick "non-Download" message, and I have two things:
- I need help in a focus group. We're exploring an idea for families and I need your input! If you want to learn more, please go here.
- I wrote a deeply personal post about sin, social media, and The Anxious Generation. I'd love your thoughts. If you want to read it, please go here.
Note: I know not all PYE followers are Christians but I think even non-Christians might find it interesting. #delayistheway!

RHLC YOUTH & FAMILY MINISTRY

We take a personal approach to ministry spanning a family's ages and stages. Each ministry area partners dedicated staff, invested and trained small group leaders, and loving, supportive parents to leverage relationships for the sake of deep faith in the lives of our children from birth through adult.
On January 26th, 14 children and their families attended our First Communion Class led by Pastor Seth. I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to join us for worship and study in the coming month. Pastor Seth’s current sermon series titled, “The One For All,” based on the Gospel of Luke continues throughout the month of February. K.I.D.S. MINISTRY’S FEBRUARY TEACHING SERIES – “MIRACULOUS”
A Teaching Series from the Gospels on Jesus’ Miracles
When we visit an aquarium, we find a whole world filled with sea creatures, plants, and more. Some of the discoveries we've made about what lives underwater can seem almost like a miracle. But it's not just under the sea where miracles happen—Jesus used water in some of his most well-known miracles! In this four-week series, kids will learn about some of the incredible miracles Jesus performed to help people grow closer to God. As they do, they'll learn how Jesus does everything out of love, calls us to follow him, knows what we need, and, most of all, that Jesus can do anything!
February 2nd: “Jesus Turns Water Into Wine” (John 2:1-12)
February 9th: “A Miraculous Catch of Fish” (Luke 5:1-11)
February 16th: The Healing at the Pool" (John 5:1-9a)
February 23rd: “Jesus Feeds the Four Thousand” (Matthew 15:29-39)
MIDDLE SCHOOL MINISTRY
DiscipleU Students - Sundays
Red Hill Lutheran Church offers a DiscipleU Educational hour for students in 6th through 12th grade between the 8:00am and 10:15am worship services. Students are welcome to join the class inside Peter’s Parish at 9:15 am and are highly encouraged to bring their bible and notebook as we use a combination of large group teaching and small group-style conversation to dive deep into God’s Word.
Our study is “All About Jesus” Who is He and why does He matter? This study gives students an opportunity to take an in-depth look at the life of Jesus. We will discover who He is, what He did during his earthly ministry, unpack the truths He taught, and explore how they can share the message of Jesus.
If you have any questions or if you need more information, please feel free to contact Student Ministry Coordinator, Tim Rivera, at trivera@redhillchurch.org.

Student Ministry February Teaching Series: ON YOUR OWN
A series on GODLY FRIENDSHIPS
Game shows can reveal the real strength behind friendships. Whether we're asking for help, solving puzzles, or overcoming challenges, quality friendships can help us move on to the next round of competition. So, what does it look like to develop game-winning friendships?
In this 4-week series from the Old and New Testaments, we'll explore how godly friendships can make a difference when we're in the hot seat. We'll see how God's words can help our friendships grow, how our friends can help our faith grow, the ways God can help us choose our friends wisely, and how God can help repair broken friendships.
If you have any questions or if you need more information, please feel free to contact Student Ministry Coordinator, Tim Rivera, at trivera@redhillchurch.org.
