News & Updates

Hello CELC & MVLA Families,

I hope you have a wonderful weekend! My daughter and I were in Irvine all day on Saturday for a volleyball tournament. The girls did great! It was a long day but so worth all of the memories.

CELC is looking forward to our upcoming Book Fair and Open House. We are also gearing up for our annual Spring Fling. Please let us know if you are willing to help out with Spring Fling or the Book Fair. Contact Stephanie Green if you can help us out at 619-659-8250.

The District continues to be guided by California Department of Public Health and our experiences from last year. Thank you for your support while we continue to navigate the 2021-22 school year. As many of you are already aware, Governor Newson and the CDPH announced that masks will not longer be required in schools starting March 12, 2022. Dr. Newman sent out an email to families on Friday.

Important Updates and Information:

  • Mark your calendars for CELC's Open House on March 31st.
  • With the ever changing and unpredictable weather, please make sure that you send a jacket with your student daily.
  • Call Mary Barkley, our Office Clerk, if you have any questions about contract work. Completing work clears your child's attendance and keeps them caught up.
  • Part 1 of Kindergarten registration for the 2022-23 school year is open. Please contact the office for information.
  • Please make sure that you send your student to school with a Chromebook (fully charged), mask (until March 11th) and a water bottle daily.
  • As a reminder, CELC official start time is 9:05 am. Students are not considered late until 9:06 am. Please check into the office for a late slip to ensure that your child is not marked absent.
  • Afternoon gates open at 2:40 pm (M/T/TH/F) and 1:30 pm (W) The official release time is 2:50 pm (M/T/TH/F) and 1:35 pm (W).
  • Morning gates open at 8:45 am daily for CELC students. Our fee-based preschool and ESS families have different schedules and are buzzed in prior to the 8:45 am time.
  • Our next district-wide kindness dress up day is April 20th. "Kindness Rocks"- dress like a rock star of wear your favorite band shirt.

We will keep you updated as things change or additional information comes up. If you have any questions, please contact Stephanie Green at sgreen@alpineschools.net or 619-659-8250.

Please stay updated and informed on what is going on by checking our district and site web pages, reading the electronic weekly newsletter, checking your email, and scanning our social media pages. Our staff is also here to help if you have any questions.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday! Don't forget to wear a college shirt on Monday!

Sincerely,

Tamara Ripke

CUBS IN THE COMMUNITY

The Cubs in the Community tradition continues this school year. Mrs. RIpke's goal is to connect with 100 Cubs (Future, Former, or Current) by the 100th day of school. Building relationships with our students is important to us! If you see Mrs. Ripke out in the community, encourage your student to say hi. Not only does it create an opportunity to connect, it also supports students' language and communication skills. Follow the sightings on our FB page. Feel free to share our postings to spread the word. Mrs. Ripke looks out for future, current, and former Cubs. Check out the latest Cub sighting below.
