Iron Mountain High School Student Council Presents: Homecoming 2024, Night in Neverland (Grades 9-12)

Doors open at 7:30 PM and will not be open for admittance after 8:15 PM. Admission costs $10.00. Guest passes must be submitted by Wednesday, September 25 to the High School Office.

We are excited to announce that there will be a Homecoming Parade this year, held on the day of the Homecoming game- Friday, September 27, 2024 at 4 PM. The parade route will be as follows:

CHANGE IN PARADE ROUTE:

We are now going to line up in front of the Church, proceed down A Street to City Park, parade around City Park and proceed up B Street. The floats will turn on Hemlock and drive 2 blocks to the stadium. They will drive through the gate and park along the back side of the track behind the visitor's bench.

There will be a QR code linked to a Google form where people will be able to vote for the winning float from grades 9-12.

Grades 9-12 will be decorating floats separately as a class and North Elementary will be working on a float as a school. We invite parent volunteers to coordinate a float for the 5th/6th grade classes and the 7th/8th grade classes. Those interested can receive more information from IMHS Student Council Advisor, Kaye Miziniak at miziniakk@imschools.org. Thank you in advance for your help!

Iron Mountain High School is excited to welcome Janice Kaye to the 5-12th grade Educational Assistant team. Janice comes to us with experience as a special education paraprofessional and as a preschool teacher in the past. She is currently completing her MAT-SPED through Western Governors University.

In her free time, she enjoys gardening, kayaking, putting together jigsaw puzzles, listening to audiobooks, and spending time with her two children who attend North Elementary School! Welcome to the family, Janice!

Troy Copiskey, 7th grade, is the son of Bryonda and Michael DeWon. Troy is excelling in the classroom and on the field! He is a motivated and bright 7th grader that is bringing his A game into the classroom with high scores and willing participation. He is a player for the IM youth football team (Erickson Jewelers) and manages his time between the field and school like a pro. Good luck on the rest of the season Troy, and keep up the great work through the school year.

The Mountaineer Varsity Girls Tennis team took on Ishpeming High School and Westwood High School Thursday afternoon. It was the last match at the Eastside Courts for the Class of 2025. Congratulations seniors and great job Mountaineers and Coach Huotari!

The Mountaineers took on Houghton High School Friday and had their annual Senior Night! Congratulations, Class of 2025!

Iron Mountain High School is excited to welcome aboard Coach Ashwin Keener, who will be coaching the girls junior varsity basketball team this year!

Coach Keener comes from Cooks, Michigan where he attended Big Bay de Noc High School, and then Bay College and Northern Michigan University. Coach Keener has his BS in Entertainment and Sports Promotion. He was awarded "Most Improved Player" in varsity soccer and basketball during his time in high school, and is an active player on the Armstrong Creek adult soccer team since 2012. He has coached various youth soccer and basketball teams, and is excited to take his skills to the high school level. He is "thrilled to be a part of this wonderful program and community that has warmly embraced me and my family. I am eager to contribute to our success both on and off the court."
