Happy October, OHMS families!
It has been such a GREAT start to the 2026–2027 school year! Our students and staff have been working hard, building relationships, learning, and growing together. We are off to a wonderful start, and I am so excited for all that this school year has in store for our students.
Our Open House was our most successful and well-attended Open House yet, with close to 300 families joining us! It was so wonderful to see so many families in the building, meet with teachers, and connect with our school community. Thank you for taking the time to be there and for continuing to support our school.
Staying Connected
Each month, our newsletter will include links for each grade level so you can easily see what is happening in your child's grade and stay connected with what students are learning and doing.
At the bottom of the newsletter, you will also find important parent links, including our district calendar and the Oak Hill Middle School Important Dates document. The Important Dates document is a great resource for planning ahead and includes upcoming events, dates, and times.
A few important dates coming up:
- October 9th: Teacher In-Service Day — No School for Students
- October 12th: Indigenous Peoples’ Day — No School
- October 30th: Last day of Quarter 1 & School Dance 6:30- 8:00 p.m.
NWEA Testing
Our fall NWEA testing went very well! We are currently wrapping up make-up testing for students who were absent. As a reminder, OHMS participates in NWEA testing in the fall and spring only.
October 30th
On October 30th, students will participate in bus evacuations during WIN time. We will also have an alternate schedule that day because of our school assembly. This will also be the last day of Quarter 1.We will end this day with a school dance for grades 6-8 from 6:30- 8:00 p.m.
After-School Support
We are excited to continue offering our After-School Support Room Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 2:00–4:00 p.m.
If your child needs additional support with schoolwork or would benefit from extra time and assistance, please reach out to their teacher or another staff member. We are happy to help connect your child with this support. Late bus transportation is also available for students who participate.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Our first Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on:
Wednesday, November 4th 3:30–6:30 p.m.
We will send out sign-ups in mid-October through Reach My Teach, so please keep an eye out for that information.
Thank You, Dance Volunteers!
I also want to give a huge thank you to the incredible parents who helped chaperone our first school dance! It was such a successful night, and our students had a blast. We truly appreciate the time you gave to help make the evening safe, fun, and memorable for our students.
As a reminder, school dances are held from 6:30–8:00 p.m. All dance dates and times can be found in the Oak Hill Middle School Important Dates document in the Parent Links section below.

We are always looking for ways to bring our families into our school community. If you would like to chaperone a dance, volunteer for an event, come into school, or help in any way, please consider completing a Parent Volunteer Form. You can find the form in the Parent Links section below.
We are so lucky to have families who are willing to give their time and be part of our school. Every bit of support makes a difference for our students.
