LHS Athletic Hall of Fame Induction
Linden Athletics has a special surprise to share with the community. This fall, two outstanding alumni were inducted into the Linden High School Sports Hall of Fame, joining a tradition that began in 1988 when Mr. Pete Maas founded the program.
Since its creation, the Hall of Fame has honored 73 athletes, 15 service contributors, and 7 teams whose achievements have left a lasting mark on Linden athletics. This year’s class continues that proud legacy with two exceptional additions.
One of the new inductees is Dustin Mayner, a 2007 graduate of Linden High School. A rare three-sport standout, Mayner earned 10 varsity letters while excelling in football, baseball, and basketball. He was named All-State in both football and baseball, set multiple MHSAA records, and capped off his senior year by being selected as Michigan’s Old Spice Redzone Gatorade Player of the Year. Following high school, Mayner continued his athletic career at Saginaw Valley State University, where he was a four-year starter in both football and baseball. His dedication, versatility, and accomplishments make him a shining example of Linden’s athletic tradition.
The Hall of Fame will also welcome Cathy North, a Linden graduate whose dedication to athletics spanned more than 40 years as a teacher, coach, athletic director, and league leader. A five-sport athlete in speedball, basketball, track, softball, and cheerleading during her own high school years, North went on to serve as the varsity volleyball coach for 23 seasons. Her 1981 volleyball team made history as the first team ever inducted into the Linden Hall of Fame, cementing her impact on the program. Beyond coaching, she became a respected leader in Michigan athletics, shaping countless student-athletes and raising the standard of competition, leadership, and sportsmanship across the state.
Together, Mayner and North embody the spirit of Linden Athletics—excellence, perseverance, and service. Their induction is a celebration not only of their achievements but also of the values that continue to inspire Linden student-athletes today.

LCS Bond Updates
LCS has been a busy place, especially with updates and renovations, thanks to the community-supported $55 million bond program. Over the past few months, Central Elementary and Hyatt Elementary have seen the bulk of the renovations.
The new school year was kicked off for our youngest learners with a phenomenal transition to the new Early Childhood Center, located within Hyatt Elementary.
Central Elementary
- Classroom renovations, office relocation, secure entry, RR remodeling, new furnishings, and new technology were completed this past Summer. Punch list items are being developed by the architect, so contractors can begin working on those items.
- Interior renovations of new STEM lab, Media Center, and six new office spaces. We anticipate wrapping up in late November and installing the new furniture.
- Electrical work continues for the new emergency electrical system, including the installation of a new generator. New HVAC units have been installed.
