Happy Friday PUSD!

• The Board approved the appointment of Megan Harkins Mobarak as our new Director II of Special Education. Congratulations, Megan!

• The Board approved the 2024–2025 Unaudited Actuals Financial Report. You can view the Unaudited Actuals Presentation here.

• The Board received presentations on:

• Special Tax Refunding Bonds

• Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) – Initial 2025 Summative Data Report

• Elementary Language Immersion Expansion Timeline

Each of these presentations offered valuable insights into the district’s progress and plans for the future.

Looking ahead, two Special Board Meetings have been added to the 2025 Board Meetings Schedule:

• Monday, September 22, 2025 – Goal Setting Workshop

• Monday, September 29, 2025 – Facilities Workshop

Both meetings will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the PUSD District Office Community Room. You can find the updated 2025 Board Meetings Schedule here.

Sysco Poway recently hosted students from PUSD’s Kitchen tABLE Academy for an afternoon of culinary lessons with Chef Henry Tran. In partnership with the Los Rancheros Kiwanis Club, students were trained on how to construct a well-balanced salad with a variety of healthy options, and also created pizzas with their favorite toppings.

Last month, Mt. Carmel High School coach collapsed before football practice last month, but quick action by fellow coaches, student athletes, and the use of an AED saved his life. Thanks to their quick thinking and the tools we have in place, our coach is alive today and recovering.

Over the past two years, multiple district office teams have collaborated on procuring AEDs, placing them strategically across our schools and offices, and training staff how to use them. This incident is a powerful reminder of why that preparation matters. It’s also a testament to the care and responsiveness of our staff and students.

The PUSD Foundation recently announced the launch of its annual Dream to STEAM giving campaign, which helps fund Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) opportunities for students across our district. Because Poway Unified receives the lowest per-pupil funding of any unified school district in San Diego County, the Foundation plays a vital role in bridging the gap to provide the experiences our students need to thrive.
