Headteacher's Message
Dear Families
It has been another busy and exciting week at Teddington School, with lots to celebrate across the school.
We are delighted to have launched our new school website this week! The website address remains the same, but we hope you enjoy exploring the new look and layout. Please take a look around and, if you have any feedback, we would be very pleased to hear from you: Visit our new website.
We are very excited to welcome prospective families to our annual Open Evening on Wednesday 30th September, from 5pm to 8pm. This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase our school and all that Teddington has to offer. We have lots of fantastic student ambassadors representing the school and helping to welcome visitors and lead tours.
A reminder that the school will close at 12:20pm on Wednesday to allow us to prepare for the evening and will reopen as usual on Thursday at 8:30am.
Our Open Mornings will then begin the following week, with two tours taking place each morning. We look forward to welcoming more prospective families and giving them the opportunity to see our school in action.
Our rugby, football and netball teams have all made a fantastic start to the term, with wins across each sport this week. Well done to all our students for their hard work, commitment and for representing Teddington School so brilliantly.
A reminder to all families that students should arrive at school in full school uniform and ready to learn each day. Please also remember that if your child is too unwell to attend school, our online absence form should be completed by 8:30am.
As mentioned in previous communications, we are taking an unapologetic approach to attendance, with a focus on supporting students to return to school as soon as possible. We have also now set up and are beginning to issue letters via the 'Attend' platform, providing families with information about their childβs attendance and absence percentage. This will remain a regular feature throughout the coming year.
It has also been an exciting week for our students in Year 9 and Year 12 who have received their iPads. We are looking forward to seeing how these devices support learning and creativity across the curriculum.
Finally, a polite reminder that the disabled parking bay in the school car park should only be used by families whose child has mobility issues. Please help us to keep this space available for those who need it.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. I hope you have a restful weekend.
Kind regards
Paul Grills
Headteacher

Year 8 Students Step into the Spotlight at Sky Studios
Our Year 8 students recently enjoyed an exciting and inspiring visit to Sky Studios, where they were given a behind-the-scenes insight into the world of television and film production.
The day began with a tour of the studios, allowing students to explore professional production environments and learn about the wide range of careers available within the creative industries. They were then challenged to work in teams to create their very own movie trailers, using industry-standard equipment and cutting-edge technology.
Throughout the day, our students demonstrated fantastic creativity, collaboration and enthusiasm as they developed their ideas, filmed scenes and edited their productions. The visit culminated in a movie trailer showcase, where each group premiered their finished film to the audience.
The quality of the trailers was incredibly impressive, and students should be very proud of what they achieved. Their confidence, teamwork and willingness to embrace new challenges made the day a huge success. π₯
Student Shoutout β¨
A fantastic achievement from Vincent in Year 13, who, alongside his brother, competed in the Melges 15 Nationals 2026 at Warsaw Sailing Club over three days.
Facing challenging conditions, with winds reaching up to 30 knots (around 50 km/h), the pair adapted their tactics throughout the event and showed impressive determination and boat speed.
On the final day, they made a clean start, found clear air and rounded the windward mark in 3rd place, their best position of the event! π
After completing all the races, they finished 7th overall out of 10 competing boats.
A brilliant achievement and a great example of resilience, teamwork and adapting under pressure. Well done! πβ΅
Year 9 High Flyers Project Presentations
On Tuesday evening, our Year 9 High Flyers enjoyed a very successful evening, presenting to families the projects they had been working on throughout Year 8.
Students presented their research on a fascinating range of topics, including space exploration, the development of fashion, the origins of the World Wars, aspects of the Second World War, the rise of communism, the Cold War, the Olympics, coronavirus and AI.
As well as exploring subjects of personal interest beyond the curriculum, students developed valuable skills in collaborative working, report writing and presenting to an audience. Each student was also presented with a professionally bound copy of their report and presentation.
The students did an outstanding job, and their presentations were enthusiastically received by a large audience of family and supporters. We could not be prouder of their hard work, curiosity and achievements. Well done to all our High Flyers!
GCSE Listening Mock Exams
Please note that GCSE Listening Mock Exams will take place during language lessons in the week beginning Monday 5 October. This is the week before the other mock examinations. Students should ensure they are prepared for these assessments.
