The Original K12 Zone is Back!

The Castle World was an incredible adventure, and we loved seeing the creativity and excitement from everyone who explored it! But now that the original K12 Zone has returned, we’re left wondering… 🤔 What other worlds might be coming next? Stay tuned!

🕹️ Explore the New Gaming Area!

❓ What’s in the Question Box?
Here’s the best part—every day in April, we’ll be replacing the question mark box in the National Zones with a new game! Encourage your students to check in daily and see what’s new.

🏆 Ready to Build? The K12 Zone Minecraft Build Challenge Has Begun!
Get ready to unleash creativity! The K12 Zone Minecraft Build Challenge kicked off on April 1st, inviting students to build imaginative structures in Minecraft Education. Winning designs will be showcased in the K12 National Zones, so encourage your students to get involved and show off their skills!

🚀 Did Anyone Notice?
Things got a little crazy in the National Zones on April Fools’ Day! Students may have noticed some “out-of-this-world” changes, including a surprise space background. But don’t worry—things seem to be back to normal now. 😉

Because National Zones are designed for social interaction across schools, students 12 and under need parental consent to participate. In contrast, School Zones are school-specific and educational, so no consent is required.

👣 How to Get Started

To grant access, Legal Guardians should:

  1. Visit consent.k12.com

  2. Log in with their LG credentials

  3. Select each student from the dropdown

  4. Follow the steps to complete consent

🔐 Only Legal Guardians can complete this process.

📌 Reminder: Students can still access School Zones without consent.

🔍 Did you know there’s a live leaderboard where students can compete to collect hidden objects in your Zone?

That’s the magic of the Quest—a built-in K12 Zone feature where students explore, collect fun items, and race to the top of the leaderboard. Whether it’s a quick brain break or part of a class reward, the Quest adds an easy layer of competition and curiosity.

💡 Ways to Use the Quest to Boost Engagement:

  • Use it as a classroom warm-up or cool-down

  • Turn it into a weekly homeroom competition

  • Offer it as a reward for task completion

  • Set a schoolwide leaderboard challenge

  • Encourage students to explore the Zone and build digital navigation skills

🔄 New for April: We’ve added spring-themed images like a tulip 🌷, baby chick 🐣, and umbrella ☔ to brighten up your Quest experience! And yes, there’s a fun April Fool’s image too—adding it to your school’s Zone is a great optional POC activity for this month.

🎯 ISWA’s Career Fair: Future Pathways in Focus

Shoutout to the amazing team at ISWA for hosting a dynamic Career Fair in their school’s Zone!

🏛️ Set in a virtual convention center, students navigated the event like true professionals—connecting with real speakers, participating in Q&As, and walking away inspired.

👏 This is a brilliant example of using the K12 Zone to expand access and opportunity. Hats off to ISWA for helping students dream big and explore what’s possible!

🎨 Destiny: Intern, Artist, and Zone Champion!

Meet Destiny, one of our incredible K12 Zone Interns who’s been lighting up the National Zones with creativity and heart!

🖌️ Destiny launched a weekly Art Club in both the K–2 and 3–5 National Zones, creating a joyful, inclusive space where students can express themselves and connect through creativity. But she didn’t stop there…

🏫 She also went the extra mile to help one school set up their own virtual art gallery in the Zone—supporting teachers, organizing layouts, and bringing student art to life in a whole new way.

👏 Destiny, thank you for being such a positive force in the K12 Zone. Your impact is already being felt across grade bands—and we can’t wait to see what you do next!
