At Noble Elementary, we believe that every student has the right to learn and grow in a safe and respectful environment. We also believe that every student has the power to make positive choices, learn from mistakes, and become stronger leaders in our school community. Noble Elementary empowers all students for college and career readiness through AVID’s schoolwide focus on WICOR, student success skills, and a growth mindset.

We are excited to share that students have been engaging in our OST Question of the Week initiative. This opportunity allows students to practice showing their work and applying effective test-taking strategies in a low-stress, supportive way. It has been wonderful to see their curiosity and effort as they take on the challenge. We appreciate your continued support as we work together to prepare students for success on the OST.

Noble Families,

At Noble, we often remind ourselves to be the “thermostat, not the thermometer.” A thermometer reacts to its environment, but a thermostat sets the tone. Our staff is committed to creating calm, focused, and purposeful classrooms each day, regardless of what challenges may arise. When we work collectively and intentionally, we create meaningful learning experiences and expand opportunities for all students.

With just weeks remaining before the OST, we are reinforcing high expectations for both behavior and academic achievement across our campus. This is an important time to strengthen routines, maintain consistent expectations, and ensure every classroom remains centered on learning. We appreciate your partnership in encouraging your child to come to school ready to focus, do their best, and finish the year strong.

Noble Families,

Last week at Noble, our staff continued reinforcing strong expectations and positive behavior across campus. However, we also saw an increase in conflicts and physical aggression between students. This reminds us how important it is to address concerns early, before they escalate, and to stay proactive in supporting students with healthy peer interactions and conflict resolution.

Moving forward, we will be increasing supervision and reinforcing clear expectations in high-traffic areas such as the cafeteria and during indoor recess. Our focus remains on maintaining a safe, calm, and structured learning environment for all students.

We appreciate your continued partnership. Please take time to speak with your child about making safe choices, using respectful language, and seeking adult support when conflicts arise. When we work together, we can ensure Noble remains a positive and supportive place for every student.

Today, Noble held its scheduled Safety and Prevention Assembly, including age-appropriate Gun Safety Awareness messaging, and it was a successful and thoughtful experience for our students.

The presentation reinforced our district’s “See Something, Say Something” expectations and reviewed clear reporting procedures in a calm, student-centered manner. Students were attentive, respectful, and engaged throughout, and the messaging was delivered in a way that emphasized prevention, awareness, and safety. We are proud of how our students responded and grateful for your partnership in supporting these important conversations. As always, please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or would like additional resources to continue the conversation at home.

Note from the Nurse Note from the Nurse

Some friendly reminders for the school year:

  • Medication should be given at home when at all possible. If your child were to require medication, either prescription or over-the-counter, be given at school, a "Permission for Medication" form must be completed by their health practitioner and given to the school nurse. Any medication must be delivered to school by an adult in the container in which it was dispensed. This is Ohio law and CH-UH Board policy designed to protect children. No medication will be given without a licensed health provider's order on file in the Health Office.

  • Health History should be kept current. The Health Office needs to know of any changes in your child's health. Serious illnesses, allergies, surgeries, and chronic conditions should be reported. Children who have life-threatening allergies or medical conditions should have their medications at school and their Emergency Action Plans and signed "Permission for Medication" forms on file by the beginning of the school year.

Emergency Phone Numbers, cell phones, home phone numbers, etc., should be included on your Emergency Medical Authorization and updated throughout the year as needed.

Guidelines for Attendance are as follows:

Your child should be kept home if he/she has any of the following within the last 24 hours:

  • Fever ≥ 100° F

  • Vomiting

  • Diarrhea

  • Constant cough

  • Fresh cold with constant runny nose

  • Rash that has not been diagnosed

  • Strep throat (should not return to school until 24 hours after medicine has started. If a child has only been cultured, please wait for results before sending them back to school.)

Please remember that contagious disease must be reported to the school.

Student Retention Discussions Student Retention Discussions

User uploaded image

At Noble, we closely monitor student progress through our Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). MTSS is a structured process in which teachers and support staff regularly review data related to academics, behavior, and attendance to ensure every student receives the support they need to be successful. Our teams meet consistently to discuss students who may need additional interventions, enrichment, or targeted supports.

In the coming weeks, some families may be contacted by their child’s teacher if there are significant concerns regarding academic performance and/or attendance. In rare and serious cases, this may include an initial conversation about the possibility of student retention. Please know that retention is a thoughtful, multi-step process—it is never a sudden decision and is reserved for severe cases where data shows a student has not yet met critical benchmarks despite layered supports.

If you receive outreach from your child’s teacher, we ask that you respond and engage in the conversation. Your voice, insight, and partnership matter deeply in this process. Our shared goal is always to make the best decision for your child’s long-term success, and that can only happen through strong collaboration between home and school.

OST Question of the Week OST Question of the Week

As Ohio State Testing approaches—with testing windows opening as early as April for students in Grades 3–5—we are continuing our Question of the Week initiative to help students build confidence and familiarity with OST-style questions. Each week, students engage with one thoughtfully selected question to practice skills, problem-solving, and test-taking strategies in a low-pressure way. This ongoing exposure helps students feel more comfortable with the format and expectations while reinforcing that learning is about growth and effort over time.

Families can support this work at home by:

  • Asking your child to explain how they got their answer, not just what the answer is.

  • Encouraging them to show their work and talk through their thinking step by step.

  • Practicing reading questions carefully and underlining key words together.

  • Reminding them to check their work and ask, “Does my answer make sense?”

  • Reinforcing a positive mindset by praising effort, persistence, and careful thinking.

Small, consistent conversations at home can make a big difference in building both skill and confidence. Thank you for partnering with us to support your child’s success.
