🌟 "Here For It!" School Attendance Matters
Being at school every day gives your child more opportunities to learn, grow, make friends, and build successful habits. Research shows that missing just 10% of the school year—about 18 days—is considered chronic absenteeism and is associated with challenges in academic success. For young children, attendance matters early: students who are frequently absent during elementary school tend to have lower academic, social-emotional, and executive-function outcomes.
Families can help by:
⏰ Setting a consistent bedtime and morning routine.
🎒 Packing backpacks and choosing clothes the night before.
đź“… Scheduling appointments outside of school hours when possible.
🌟 Celebrating your child's effort and attendance.
đź’¬ Talking with your child about why every school day matters.
🤝 Contacting the school if your family needs help removing barriers to regular attendance.
Remember: Missing 2 days each month can add up to approximately 18 days over a school year. Every day your child is in school is another day to learn, connect, and succeed!
