SEPTEMBER SCHOOL NEWS
Welcome Back Leopards!
Hello! My name is Monica Martinez and am so excited to be the Principal at Parmer Lane ES! I was born and raised in Uvalde, TX and graduated from Texas State with both my bachelors and masters degrees. I was an administrator in Austin, Round Rock and Georgetown and have found a home here in Pflugerville ISD. I would also like to introduce our new AP, Ms. Cheryl Burleson. She has lots of instructional experience and I know she will bring her love of education to our school. We are extremly excited for this year and know we will have a fantastic year. Go Leopards!
Congratulations Parmer Lane Elementary School!
I am happy to share that Parmer Lane Elementary has been selected as a site for Brighter Bites programming in the 2024-2025 school year! This programming will be offered for the first time to our school community and I look forward to a partnership with this incredible program!
Brighter Bites promotes healthy eating, healthy habits and offers free produce to our participating families! More information to follow soon!

School Information
ATTENDANCE
ATTENDANCE MATTERS ALL DAY, EVERYDAY
Regular and punctual school attendance is essential for school success. Attendance increases student achievement and improves the quality of their educational experience. It prepares them for college, good careers, and successful adulthood. Texas Compulsory Attendance Law requires students to attend school regularly, unless otherwise exempted by law. It is the responsibility of the parent and student to cooperate and communicate with the school on all attendance matters.
Prekindergarten and Kindergarten
Students enrolled in prekindergarten or kindergarten are subject to the compulsory attendance requirements as long as they remain enrolled.
Ages 6–18
State law requires that a student who is at least six years of age, or who is younger than six years of age and has previously been enrolled in first grade, and who has not yet reached their 19th birthday, shall attend school, as well as any applicable accelerated instruction program, extended-year program, or tutorial session, unless the student is otherwise excused from attendance or legally exempt.
State law requires a student in kindergarten–grade 2 to attend any assigned accelerated reading instruction program. Parents will be notified in writing if their child is assigned to an accelerated reading instruction program based on a diagnostic reading instrument.
A student will be required to attend any assigned accelerated instruction program before or after school or during the summer if the student does not meet the passing standards on an applicable subject area state assessment.
School Emergency Drills
We train our staff and students in the Standard Response Protocols (SRP); Secure, Lockdown, Evacuate, Shelter, and Hold. These five simple procedures give our staff and students the tools they need to properly initiate emergency response actions for any emergency that may occur on a campus.
These SRP's are practiced regularly each school year at all campuses in the form of drills. State law actually dictates that number of times each semester each drill has to be practiced. In addition to the SRP Drills, we also have Fire Drills, Severe Weather Drills, and Evacuation Drills. All drills are reported by each of the campus administrators to the Pflugerville Fire Department and the PfISD Office of Safety and Emergency Management within 48 hours of the drill.
Each of our SRP's are listed below along with a brief description of the protocol. You can click on the icon of each SRP for more detailed information on each protocol.

Volunteer Opportunities at PLES
Pflugerville ISD welcomes partnerships between parents, businesses, organizations, and individuals who want to share their time, talent, and resources to enrich the lives of students.
