Tiger Talk
12/16/25

Dear Tiger friends and families:
As the holiday season approaches, I want to take a moment to thank you for your continued support and partnership throughout this school year. Our school is truly a special place because of our students, staff, and families working together to create a safe, caring, and joyful learning environment.
The holiday season is a time for reflection, gratitude, and togetherness. Over the past months, we have seen our students grow academically and socially, and we are proud of their hard work and positive attitudes. Your encouragement at home plays an important role in their success, and we appreciate all that you do.
The holiday season is also a time to celebrate with our Tigers. I hope to see you at our Holiday Sing-A-Long at 7:40 am Thursday, December 18. Our class holiday parties are Friday, December 19. The party schedule is shown farther down in this newsletter. Be sure to bring your photo ID with you if you intend to join our Tiger celebrations.
School will dismiss for winter break at 11:40 am on Friday, December 19. There will be no Extended Care that day. If you, therefore, need to alter your usual dismissal instructions because of the early release and/or due to our Extended Care being unavailable, please be sure to update SMART Tag with your new instructions for the day by 10 am on Friday, December 19.
Although we just donated lots of lovely coats, hoodies, and sweaters prior to Thanksgiving, our Lost & Found is already almost full again. When you visit our campus for our fun holiday events, please be sure to check the Lost & Found for your Tiger's belongings.
In the new year, we look forward to welcoming students back at 7:40 am on Wednesday, January 7. We are excited to begin the new year together with renewed energy and enthusiasm.
On behalf of the entire West Cypress Hills Elementary staff, I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year. Thank you for being a valued part of our school community.
With warmest regards,
Amy Russ, Principal

Attendance is Golden!
Classrooms with a Golden Goose this week are:
Ms. Berndlmaier's and Ms. Eilers' Kindergarten Classes Tied
Ms. Spillar's 1st Grade Class
Ms. Moore's 2nd Grade and Ms. Foster's 3rd Grade Classes
Ms. McDaniel's 4th Grade and Ms. Lively's 5th Grade Classes
In October we launched an exciting initiative to boost student attendance. Each week, we feature a "Golden Goose" for every grade level. The class with the best attendance in each grade will receive the "Golden Goose" for the week. Additionally, attendance updates will be shared in our newsletters.
At the end of the semester, the grade level with the highest overall attendance will enjoy an ultimate recess! Also, students with perfect attendance every 9 weeks will receive a certificate from the office.
We appreciate your partnership in promoting excellent attendance. Let’s make this a great month and a great year!
School Library Advisory Council
In response to Senate Bill 13, our Board of Trustees has established the Lake Travis ISD School Library Advisory Council (SLAC.) The purpose of the SLAC is to formalize a collaborative process between librarians, parents, and community members in the ongoing development of strong library collections that support student achievement and meet state standards. This process helps ensure transparency, parent involvement, and a strong library program that strengthens student achievement while nurturing a lifelong appreciation, habit, and love of reading.
The SLAC works with librarians and district staff to develop a recommended list of library materials for procurement, including donated titles. At least 30 days before the Board’s vote, the proposed procurement list will be made publicly available for parents and community members to review and provide feedback. The Board will review these recommendations, consider any proposed changes, and make the final decision to approve or reject the materials. The SLAC will also recommend procedures for handling challenges to library materials and review challenges according to law before making recommendations to the Board.
Visit the SLAC webpage to access the Proposed Titles for Library Procurement List, Proposed Titles for Library Procurement List Feedback Form, and the Library Materials Challenge Form.
For questions or additional information regarding SLAC reviews or library material challenges, please contact Tasha Barker at watersbarkert@ltisdschools.org, or at 512-533-6036.
Contact Coach Williams or Coach Mayes to share the good news about new shoe-tying talents!
