Butler's Pledge: Be Respectful, Responsible, & Kind
Important Information
CBSD 1:1 Technology Device Collection Plans and Procedures
Please note: The Technology and Innovation Department is preparing to collect all devices from students in grades 3rd, 6th, 9th, and 12th. (Students in grades 4th, 5th, 7-8 and 10-11 will keep their device over the summer *unless* you are leaving the district.)
Butler will begin collecting your child's device on Monday, June 8th in Grades 3&6. Laptop bags do not need to be returned and will be reused by your child next year. If technical issues, please submit a help desk ticket to resolve the issue. Also, all hotspots must be returned with the device (if applicable). Lastly, remove any non-CBSD stickers or USB devices from laptops before returning.
Below are details about the collection of these devices and what to do if missing the charger, pen, or a lost laptop. Please read them carefully and contact Michele Droxler (Office Secretary) with questions.

Hallway Decorating - Committee Support
On Friday, June 5th, the hallways for our Butler 5th & 6th grades will be decorated in anticipation of their time ending at Butler and beginning in Middle School! This is an honored Butler tradition where parents "pay it forward" to decorate in support of our exiting class community. With 5th & 6th Grades moving up together next year for realignment, support is needed from our parent helpers! Thank you for considering! Information below. Click here to register and support!
E-Bikes, Bicycle, E-Scooter, and Scooter Riding - Safety Standards and Expectations (Helmets)
With spring weather, there has been an increase in bike riding and scooters. A current concern is with students during arrival/dismissal. Pennsylvania state law requires all bicycle riders under the age of 12 to wear a helmet. This mandate applies to anyone operating a bicycle, riding as a passenger, or in an attached trailer or seat. Helmets must meet approved safety standards. While no law requires 12 years and older to wear a helmet, safety standards state how they protect lives.
Pennsylvania law states that individuals must be 16-years of age to ride an e-bike, while there is no law yet created for e-scooters. Therefore, no e-bikes should be ridden to Butler Elementary due to the age-restriction.
If your student rides to school, we encourage parents have a conversation with their child. Several students are riding their transports in the middle of the street during arrival and dismissal or weaving in and out of vehicles as cars are exiting during walker dismissal. We have reached out to parents in specific instances, but we want to avoid a tragedy with the increase of bike and scooter riders. For everyone who drives to school, please be cautious of student walkers and riders.
As a courtesy, please read the fact sheet below for requirements and safety standards. Information courtesy of the New Britain Township Police Department.
Butler Cell Phone/SMART Watch/Personal Device Policy
When in school, personal student cell phone/SMART Watch/device usage are to be silenced and remain in backpacks during the school day. In some instances, students need their device to monitor health status through each day, and this will remain in place. However, should there be a need for any student/home communication, it will take place with the support of the teacher/school office during the school day. These district expectations have been shared with students, and we appreciate your support with your children as we navigate each school day.
We invite you to watch a short video as a reminder about the guidelines for student use of cell phones and personal electronic devices, including smartwatches, in our schools.

School Happenings
Butler Concert Series - 2nd & 4th Grades - 5/18
On May 18th, Ms. Griffin directed our 2nd grade performers for their "Hats" show, where students showcased creativity and enthusiasm as they sang lively songs while wearing a variety of fun and imaginative hats. It was clear they had a fantastic time entertaining the audience!
For the second show this evening, Mrs. LaRose (Strings Director) and Ms. Griffin combined effort featuring our 4th graders, as we rolled out the “Red Carpet” for a night of music! Students impressed the audience with a musical showcase that included strings, recorders, and vocal performances. Their hard work and talent truly shined as they delivered an engaging performance.
Special thanks to Ms. Griffin, Ms. LaRose, and the 2nd and 4th grade teams for their dedication, support, and effort in preparing students for these outstanding performances!

Spring Fair Principals for the Day - 5/29
The Butler Spring Fair is one of our most popular school events of the year. The winners of the Butler Principal for the Day raffle enjoyed a full-day of "administrative experiences" with Mr. Funseth and Mrs. Brevic. Neel R. and Franky E., 4th graders from Ms. Bortz's Room, spent the day greeting students and staff, monitoring lunches and recess, making announcements, and so much more! They were supportive of our two big events this day, Butler's Volunteer Tea and 6th Grade Volleyball. Thanks to the Butler PTO and to our "principals" for an exciting day!

Thanks to everyone who braved the raindrops and to the teachers and staff who took orders to celebrate our school. Rita's is always so supportive of Butler and we appreciate the percentage of proceeds generated from the evening to support student programming and sponsorships!
Butler Elementary Celebrates Our Volunteers - The Volunteer Tea
A special "Thank You" was hosted by the Butler Staff for all Butler Parent Volunteers who helped in our classrooms, cafeteria, and "after school" events throughout the 25-26 year! Special treats were made by the teaching staff including cards and heartfelt messages made by the students. We are blessed with an amazing community of families who support our efforts and work alongside our school staff throughout the entire year! "Thank you, Volunteers!"
CB 5k & Triathlon - 5/23
On May 22nd & 23rd, Central Bucks hosted their annual road race and triathlon at CB South High School. Students from across the school district participated in both events (Saturday - Road Race, Sunday - Triathlon). Butler was well-represented and collectively our appreciation for staying active and engaged in health and wellness!
5th & 6th Grade Volleyball vs. Staff
Each year, our promoting grade 6 students have a friendly staff versus students volleyball game that coincides with skills they learn in Physical Education class. With this also being our 5th Grade students last year at Butler, our school held two dedicated days for both grade levels! It was a fun event (each day) and the entire Butler Community enjoyed seeing the kids and adults compete! Thank you, Mrs. Engart, and participating teachers!
