Tiger Talk
03/26/25

Welcome back, Tiger Families!
I hope you all had a restful and enjoyable time together. We are thrilled to have our students and staff back on campus this week, and as always, our focus remains on growing 1% better every day. Thank you, parents, for your continued support in ensuring your child’s presence at school each day. It’s so important that students arrive on time and are here every day to fully benefit from the great learning happening in our classrooms.
Speaking of great learning, our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders are diving into their STAAR review preparations. It has been such a joy to see the exciting, engaging, and thoughtful review plans that our teachers have crafted for their students. From the 5th Grade STAARbucks Café to the 4th Grade ELAR Glow Days, the energy has been fantastic, and the students are truly enjoying these hands-on, creative review activities!
Be sure to check out some photos of these activities below. And stay tuned for next week when our 3rd graders will be revealing their own STAAR review theme! I can’t wait to share more pictures and updates in my next Tiger Talk. In addition, I want to remind everyone that the parent survey has been sent out. At this time, only 3% of our WCHE parents have responded. Your voice matters, and we want to hear from you! We value your input and want to know what’s going well, as well as areas that we can improve. Please take a moment to complete the survey. You can find the survey link below.
As we prepare for the next school year, I’d also like to remind any parents of incoming kindergarten students to please make sure their child is registered as soon as possible. This is crucial for us to determine how many kindergarten teachers we’ll need for the 2025-2026 school year. Your timely registration helps us plan and provide the best education for all of our students. Returning student verification will be out soon please watch out for the announcement coming next week.
Thank you for all you do to support our school and community. I look forward to seeing many of you at our upcoming Tiger Gala on April 4th. If you haven't had the chance to purchase your ticket yet, please be sure to check out the flyer below for more information.
Enjoy your evening,
Amy Russ
Please tell us what you think...
We are excited to announce that the window for our 2024-2025 Parent Survey is officially open! The purpose of this survey aligns closely with our District Strategic Plan. Your feedback will help us understand what we are doing well and identify where we have opportunities for growth. We sincerely appreciate your participation in this important endeavor.
Step 1
You can access the survey by utilizing either the provided link or scanning the QR code below.

Please note, in order to access the survey, you will need to enter your student’s ID number (minus the "S"). You can find your student’s ID number in Skyward Family Access. The survey link will be sent only to the primary guardian of each student, and the survey can be completed only once for each student in the household attending LTISD. The survey will close at midnight, Friday, March 28. If you encounter any issues accessing the survey, please contact LTISD support at helpdesk@ltisdschools.org.
Please be assured that all surveys are confidential, and all data collected will be used solely to guide our planning. The data is owned by LTISD and will not be shared with any third party. Survey results will be made available on the LTISD website as soon as possible.
We encourage you to take the time to share your thoughts, suggestions, and concerns openly and honestly. Together, we can ensure that LTISD continues to provide an exceptional experience for all students, staff, and families!

4th Grade is Glowing through their staar review!
This week, our 4th Grade Reading Scholars kicked off their STAAR review! Our dedicated humanities team of teachers organized a fun and engaging glow event, where students worked through six different stations. One station featured an article about the Anglerfish, where students color-coded the main ideas and supporting details in each paragraph. Then, they took it to the next level by using their TDEC strategies to craft a response to the question: The Anglerfish is one of the most unique sea creatures in the world. What makes the fish so unique? 4th grade parents, be sure to have your child share their response with you when it comes home next week—you'll be amazed by how our scholars can use text evidence to support their explanations! Check out photos of Mrs. McDaniel and Mrs. Roy's classes in action, and stay tuned for Miss Rowe's class photos, which will be shared next week. Also, keep an eye out for our math students as they begin their reviews very soon!
Let's enjoy some scenes from Mrs. Hill's Music Class

It is that time of year again where we begin to work on our next school year schedule and class lists. The parent input form for the 25-26 school year is open! In making class assignments, our goal is to place each child in a class where he or she can be most successful.
A secondary goal is to also maintain a balance among classes in terms of gender, academic ability, disciplinary and social needs, learning styles, and individual needs of the students. All information shared is confidential and submitted electronically to West Cypress Hills Elementary administration.
We hope to make classroom assignments that will maximize the opportunity for your child’s success. If you have information you would like to have considered in your child’s placement, please complete and submit this form. Please limit your input to the way your child learns and any information we should consider.
