📬Dear Booth Hill Families,

Wow! Finally a full week of school (almost)! After the recent snow days and interruptions, it felt great to return to a normal rhythm and see our classrooms fully back in action. There’s something energizing about a full week of learning, routines, and the everyday moments that make Booth Hill such a special place.

I also want to take a moment to share an important update regarding the Trumbull Public Schools budget. The Board of Education approved the Superintendent’s proposed budget, which supports maintaining the strong educational programs and services our students rely on. At this time, the First Selectman has not supported the full BOE-approved budget, and the process has now moved to the Board of Finance.

The Board of Finance will be holding public comment at their meetings on March 12 and March 21. If you value the education that Trumbull students receive and wish to support the full restoration of the Board of Education’s approved budget, community participation during this process is crucial.

Thank you, as always, for your continued partnership and support of our schools and our children.

Warmly,
Kevin Chase

Principal 🐾

Spring Parent/Teacher Conferences Spring Parent/Teacher Conferences

Thursday, March 12th will be an early release day, 1:00pm, for students to accommodate for elementary parent/teacher conferences. All required conferences will occur on this day/evening. Not all students are in need of a conference at this time. Your child’s teacher will contact you next week if your child is in need of a conference and you can then sign up online HERE. You can reach out to your child’s teacher should you have any concerns and do not receive a conference request. Please schedule a conference only if you have received a request from your child's teacher or you have already communicated with your child's teacher and agreed to a conference.

📌 Budget – Family Action Needed! 📌 Budget – Family Action Needed!

March 12 and March 21 are public comment BOF meetings. Let's overwhelm them with comments that will encourage full support of the BOE approved superintendent budget.

As budget discussions continue, it is important to be transparent: the current messaging around the budget is concerning. At this time, there has been discussion that critical teaching positions may need to be cut if the proposed budget is not supported. These include reading specialist and math specialist positions. These roles are essential to the success of our schools and, most importantly, to the academic growth and well-being of our students.

This is especially troubling in a year when we have launched a brand-new reading program. Specialists play a vital role in supporting implementation, analyzing benchmark data, and providing targeted interventions to help students grow. Without this support, maintaining the high level of academic achievement that Booth Hill and Trumbull Public Schools are known for would be an enormous challenge.

Family voices matter. We need parents to stay informed, attend budget-related meetings when possible, and advocate for maintaining the staffing and programming that make Trumbull schools strong. The quality of education in our district is not only critical for our children — it is also foundational to the strength of our community and the value of our homes.

We need a strong show of support to be able to get a budget passed that will maintain the current educational environment and supports we are able to provide our children.

Thank you for your partnership and for standing with us in support of our students.

Safety Safety

Car Drop-off and Pick-Up

Please stay as far to the right side of the entry when arriving for morning drop-off. Staff need to be able to pass by to enter the parking lot.

To help our dismissal run smoothly and safely for all students, please be in the back car pick-up line by 3:20 PM if you are picking up by car. We’ve noticed arrival times are gradually getting later, which delays the line and impacts everyone’s afternoon schedule. Being in line by 3:20 allows us to dismiss students efficiently and keeps the process calm and predictable for children.

Please turn off your vehicle if you arrive early to drop-off or pick-up. Idling is prohibited.

Thank you for partnering with us to keep dismissal safe and smooth!

Please remember to take time to read our handbook.

Labeling Items

We encourage families to label items such as water bottles, lunch boxes and outerwear with a name so that if they are misplaced they can be returned quickly to students.

A Note from the Transportation Department

The start of school is a busy time of year and our priority is that all students are assigned a bus stop location before the start of school and that stop concerns are resolved quickly. This is a reminder that all requests for bus stop changes or bus stop concerns need to be submitted online using our Transportation Action Report found by clicking the hyperlink CLICK HERE. For immediate assistance, you can reach the Transportation Department at 203-452-4321.

Lost Items on the Bus: Any items left on the bus are brought to the Bus Depot at the end of the day. Please call Durham at 203-261-4329.

Parent pick-up: Visitors are prohibited from entering school grounds during school hours without checking in at the main office. The earliest that we authorize cars to enter cueing for pick-up is 2:45. Additionally, small barricades have been placed right near the storage trailer to prevent cars from traveling any further until Mr. T moves them at 3:00. Do not attempt to turn left off of Booth Hill Road into the school driveway. Proceed straight and join at the end of the line. This will allow us to maintain a safe and secure environment for our children.

Chromebook Insurance: Grade 5 Families

The Trumbull Public Schools will be offering the option for parents to purchase Chromebook Insurance for grades 5-8 students as part of our 1:1 Device Insurance Program. Each student in grades 5-8 is issued a district managed Chromebook that is to be used as a tool to support their learning. Students are responsible for bringing their Chromebook from home to school each day and it is expected to be fully charged and available when needed during the school day. The 1:1 Device Insurance Program is designed to protect students and families in the event that the Chromebook issued to a student is stolen, damaged, or malfunctions due to no fault of the student. Students and parents may be charged for any damage resulting from intentional damage to the device caused by the student or for lost devices.

This program covers all accidental damage to the Chromebook or theft of the device subject to the following: $0 deductible for the first two occurrences per year and $50 deductible per occurrence thereafter. This coverage is effective for the duration of the school year. Insurance must be renewed annually.

The cost for the 2025-2026 school year is $25.00 per device, per child. If a family does not elect to purchase the insurance, the family will be responsible for the full cost of replacement parts plus labor or full replacement cost of the Chromebook if it can not be repaired. A typical repair for a screen replacement is approximately $85, which is why the district encourages parents to purchase the insurance to limit their liability in case of accidental damage to the device. Chromebook insurance does not cover intentional damage or lost devices, chargers or cases.

For additional information on the program please refer to Board of Education 5143.2 Student One-to-One Device Insurance Program. Families experiencing economic hardship may request a fee waiver by contacting the appropriate school administrator and following the process outlined in Board of Education 5138/Pay to Participate Policy.

Enrollment and payment for the 1:1 Device Insurance Program will be processed via the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. To purchase the insurance login to the Parent Portal, and select School Store>Technology>Chromebook Insurance on the left menu. Click here to access step-by-step instructions for adding the insurance and completing payment online.

Parents must elect the insurance no later than 9/30/2025. ENROLL NOW
