Wishing you all a very happy New Year! Wishing you all a very happy New Year!

The term leading up to Christmas was a busy and eventful one. Here are some of the highlights:

To reflect on those who have lost their lives in conflicts past and present and to pray for those who still suffer due to conflicts, as well as those in the military and emergency services, a Remembrance Service was held on 11th November.

The KISC Olympics The KISC Olympics

The Student Council Olympics - Week 1 | Musical Chair | Tug of War | Shooting | KISC

The Student Council ran the KISC Olympics, and it was a lot of fun. Students—and even homeroom teachers—showed their competitive spirit in events like musical chairs, frisbee, and pickleball.

All About That Baby All About That Baby

The Primary students put on an amazing Christmas production called ‘All About That Baby’, which, with the aid of some sheep and their shepherds, helped us to remember the real focus of Christmas.

Zuala Cup Zuala Cup

ZUALA CUP 2024-25 | KISC Inter-house Basketball Competition |

The annual Zuala Cup basketball tournament was held during the term. Intense competition during the day saw Makalu house come out as the eventual winners.

The Christmas Assembly The Christmas Assembly

The final assembly of the term shared the Christmas story in different forms and languages, and it even gave some students the opportunity to hit their teachers over the head with sticks, with musical accompaniment!

Happy Returns Happy Returns

A family reunion, in which 5 members are KISC alumni, took place in Nepal over the Christmas holidays. Siblings Gemma, Rhys and Carl (centre of the picture), along with Tete, were all KISC students during the early 2000s when the school was at the Naya Baneshwor site. Rhys and Tete married in 2007 and are living in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, where they both teach at an international school there. Silas was teaching at KISC Dhobighat site during 2016-17, when he met Gemma, who was working in Kathmandu at the time. They married in 2018 and now live and work in Seoul, S. Korea, where Silas is a teacher at an international school and Gemma is an education consultant. Carl lives with his family in Colchester, England, and he is a science teacher at a secondary school. Can You Help? Can You Help?

We are grateful to those people who have taken part in live chats with Grade 12 students, sharing experiences and advice on a whole range of subjects related to life after KISC.

One of the drawbacks of the live chats has been that many of you have been excluded from sharing because of the time difference between your country and KISC school hours. So here’s an idea: how about making a short video about your experience and sending it to us so that we can share it with the students here? That way no one misses out.

At the moment, we would be especially grateful if you would make a video sharing about your study and career journey, what you are studying or studied, or the field in which you are working now. This would encourage our students to be creative as they consider their options for classes and to think outside the box about their careers.

If you would be interested in helping out in this way please message alumni@kisc.edu.np and we can even help with a few starter questions.

KISC EQUIP KISC EQUIP

EQUIP trainers visited all three of our project areas (Rukum West, Lamjung and Sihara) during the last term. One of the highlights was a three-day Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) training for the partner schools in Rukum West. The training was facilitated by trainers from DEPO, (Disaster Education Promotion Office), a non-profit organization working for the promotion of disaster education and preparedness in Nepal. Incorporating DRR into the EQUIP teacher training programme is a relatively new thing for EQUIP but an increasingly important one as it helps create safer school environments, prepared for disaster events in the often remote and vulnerable places where they are located.

International Duke of Edinburgh Award (IDEA) International Duke of Edinburgh Award (IDEA)

Over the last three years, the Duke of Edinburgh Awards have become a fixture in school life. The Award comprises three levels, each with four sections, and is designed to provide a balanced programme of personal development and challenge. Participants complete all four sections at each level in order to achieve their Award of Bronze (for ages 14+), Silver (15+) and Gold (16+). The four sections in each award are Physical Recreation, Skills, Voluntary Service, and Adventurous Journey, and are all aimed at developing the young people in skills and qualities beyond their normal studies.
